Yet another guy with another electrical problem

Starts well right off the tender but after riding a few short miles it will not restart. I will get one crank and the four ways will come on. So far I have replaced the negative cable, had the starter rebuilt, solenoid replaced, load tested the battery which was ok. Don't know where to look next but I am losing hope. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Agree with others VR, or possible stator issue? Sounds like a no charge situation so....

Recharge battery.
Invest in a cheap digital volt meter.
Start bike and let it idle with high beam and brake lights off.
Set meter to 20v: red lead to the posi side of battery, ground the other neg side as well with black lead.
Digital numbers have to read 14v or more at idle.
Step on brake, have high beam on. Voltage should kick in past 14v... It:

A. Showed ground is good because it starts. Shows ground is good to the computer box because there is no cutout. Spark system is good... bla-bla-bla = Resistance.

B. Shows the regulator can trigger more voltage to the battery if the lights go on and demand more bla-bla = Wattage.

C. Shows the battery can hold a charge and the acid to water to bla-bla-chemRe = Voltage.

D. Shows the ohm's loop as where to look in bla-bla-oh shit oh shit dis must be it! = Amperage up the wire no fire.

... WATT say ye?

Ok, so right off the tender I have 12.3 volts at idle, when I turn on hi beam and engage brake I still have 12.3.

Your not charging, should be over 13v running and higher if you rev it, check the stater plug to make sure its in, check circuit breaker, replace battery

Agree with BWG, looks like no charge. Now you should check the stator and the VR. You didn't happen to look what happens when you rev the engine? With luck the plug btw Stator and VR is loose (that black thing on the engine case on the left side next to oil filter.) as BWG said.
Have you had your oil changed lately? I have seen ppl pulling those wires out to make replacing filter easier....

If the stator plug is the two pronged plug coming off the VR then it's verified in. CB is not tripped

Check output on the stator plugs first ...turn the meter to AC voltage should have 20-30volts at idle. There's some baseline specs in the manual.

Once confirmed you got output there check the VR also might just be the ground is dirty. The original VR is grounded to itself and bolts through the frame holding it in place easy to get dirty

After checking all other possibilities, I decided to drop the VR and found a hole burnt through the center of it.
I am lucky that it did not catch on fire. I just ordered a new VR from Dead One Customs. I appreciate everyone's help. Hopefully this will be taken care of in a couple of days.
