I bought this sexy little redhead brand new before I had kids but with two boys and now a little girl on the way I can't give her the attention she deserves so it may be time to let her go. I let the notion to sell her slip out of my mouth in front of the wife about a month ago and now she's "all over it"(I should have learned last year when the same thing happened with the Mach 1) so I'll sell her but I won't give her away 'cause this 'ol girl means a lot to me. We've got way too much history for me to treat her like a cheap whore. :) Luckily she's letting the boys keep their "scooters"...for now anyway. :)

As far as me being a legit seller many of you probably know me as I worked at the Big Dog factory from '03-'06(the good 'ol days) before moving to Vegas to to run the Bike Sales department at Pat Clark Motorsports which is where the sexy redhead came from. If you're riding an '03-'04 with a 107(and a few 117's) there's a good chance I built your motor and I more than likely have the hand written build sheet from the day her heart started beating. I built 620 of them before I moved up to become a Regional Parts Rep and kept the build sheet on ever one.

I ended up taking out a loan on her last year and still owe just under $2K which I'm going to pay off this week, but then have to wait for the "released" title to come back from the state so it'll probably be 3-4 weeks before she's actually ready to go. That'll give me time to polish her up and take her our for one final ride(or three) before she goes anyway.

Any questions just ask, names Mike. 316-304-8454

Beautiful bike ...sorry about the wife! Haha.

I'd be curious if you had the build sheet on my 107 in my 04 ridgeback. Engine has been smoother than silk, so if you built it I at least owe you some beers! The 107 in my 04 is quieter and smoother than 117, they are not even close.

If it runs smoother than silk I probably built it...lol. In my opinion they should have stuck with the 107's with the 600 cam, why mess with something that ain't broke?" Don't even get me started on the '05 electrical system). Oh that reminds me...my girl does NOT have an EHC!! :)
Big Dog seemed to live by the philosophy I learned back in my Navy days..."if it ain't broke fix it til it is!" :)

Back then we only had a few engine builders and I was put out more than anyone else in '03 & '04 so there's a good chance. I've been meaning to pull all the project numbers into Excel so if anyone ever asked me I'd be able to tell them without manually looking through 620 build sheets if I built theirs and if so then dig out the build sheet. Hell maybe I should just scan them and upload them here for everyone. I'll have to ask the wife where she packed them away at. Build sheet would have all measurements done during the build like pinion size(matched to cam), rocker arm clearances, pushrod adjustments, etc. Cool "wrench head" stuff. :)

Haha...well if your ever in Dallas I owe you beers. The 117 with the TP heads was an interesting move. Big dog had to keep up with the Jonses (AIH,BBC) though so I'm sure that's what brought about the 117.

My 117 is a 07 K9 so they went back to S&S but it's still noisey as hell compared to the 107.

Would be cool to run them through a scanner and have it make a PDF or something. Then any of us can just search it.

Anyways, enough about me your trying to make a sale. Although if you drag your feet maybe wife gives up?

How many miles?
It shows just under 8K but the speedo quite working years ago right after Big Dog yanked out my EHC. It was actually in the shop the day Big Dog closed their doors. Could be as simple as a pinched wire or speedo sensor but I never investigated as I never looked down at it anyway. The engine tells me all I need to know about how fast I'm goin...lol. It still lights up and the tach works fine but speedo needle sits at 60mph and the odometer is stuck at the mileage it had the day it quit. I had the 10K service done year before last and haven't done much riding the last couple hears due to the kiddos so if I were to guess I'd say 10-11K .

Yeah mine came with those bullshit TP rocker boxes and I had Pat Clark take them off before I even took her home. Yep, my first warranty claim was at 67 miles. :) Not sure if the real story was ever disclosed about why we went to those but it was all politics. Sheldon had a bit of ownership in TP so it made financial sense to start using them...probably should have done a bit more R&D first since in the end it cost somewhere in the six figure range to fix in the field. Probably not as bad as the legendary starter issue, but close!

Well cost cutting was obvious didn't know Sheldon had direct interest in TP.

Which starter issue was legendary?

I assume the EHC RECALLS/warranty had to cost more than six figures

Shouldn't take long at that price. shame you let the Mach-1 go. It's a nice looking car.
Most emotional day of my life(second most if my wife is reading this). I took it down to the Tulsa Leake's auction and called my pop's 4 or 5 times for moral support before she hit the auction block on the second day. The car was my pop's from '93-'05 and mine from '05-'14. The paint job at the time of that picture was 18 years old so we kept her in pretty good shape. It went to a collector right there in Tulsa so I still know where she's at, but the buyer was a real jackass with way more money than sense. I kept the original 1973 ignition key as a keepsake so I figured one of these days maybe I'll just drive down there and see if I can sneak her out for an afternoon lol.

Sorry to see you looking at letting her go. And really sorry about the Mach1! Love those cars.

You may have started something with the comment about build sheets. You probably built the motor for my Mastiff too. I bought it from a guy in Wichita who said his son had worked in the paint shop for a while. Having the build sheet would be cool.

Yeah I was just thinking the same thing lol. I honestly haven't seem them since we moved back to Kansas but there's no way I'd ever toss them and the wife wouldn't without asking me what they were first so I know for a fact I have them. You have my word I'll find them for you guys but you just have to give me some time. I have a shitload of extra parts packed away in the attic from swap meets back in the day as I planned on building one before I bought mine. I'll bet the build sheets are with them. If my bike sells I won't need them anymore so I'll be digging them out this fall to sell but I wouldn't go near that attic right now...I bet it's one hot motherF%&ker up there!

I have one piece I figured would be worth some money some day to the right Big Dog finatic. :) After motors I worked in P&A and my boss had an S&S cylinder displayed on his desk but instead of "S&S" stamped on it it's stamped with "Big Dog". It was a first article S&S made but it was decided the cost was going to be too much so it never got produced so this one is the only one in existence. When he left the company for some reason he decided to turn it over to me.

I'll have to post a pic of it...pretty cool. :)

Damnit I just typed a big response and then deleted it on accident...I'm new to the "forum world" lol.

Disregard my comment about the starter issue I was thinking it was a recall or something but on second thought I think it was just a manufacturing/backorder issue which cost us(the dealership) quite a bit as we had several bikes sitting around we couldn't sell, but probably didn't impact the factory much.

If you add in the bikes they had to buy back due to lemon laws I'm sure the EHC issues cost them more in the seven figure range. I remember a few "silent auctions" for employee's that included at least a dozen bikes each time. They were all bikes bought back for various reasons so they'd repair them and then throw them up for auction.

No kiddin'? Most definitely. My rear tire threw the tread off so just ordered a new one that will be hear early next week. Let's get together for a beer as soon as she's done. I need to call Matt and see if he inherited the fat tire mounting machine when he bought the company!

I think I'm gonna be sick...the wife pressured me into putting my bike on eBay last weekend and now it looks like I might be "giving" her away for the $8k opening bid to a damn dealer. Guess the market is a lot softer than I thought. I'm really gonna be pissed if they put it on the floor right here in their Wichita location. I have a cousin I'm trying to talk into buying it here in town so at least I'd still be able to take her out once in a while. Sad day...
