HERE WE GO AGAIN! More repeatative stuff:angry: Hey Fat, I know you are new here and I don't want to get on your case. Try using the search function. There are a lot of great people around here that are willing to help out, but some of this stuff gets repeatative after a while. What is gap, oil filter, type of oil, tranny fluid how much etc etc.

I really hate to see this kind of stuff. This new guy asks a simple question and there is a simple answer (thanks for giving him the answer, Gas) that's easy to post and will make the new guy feel welcome and help him realize that he has found the site he needs for Big Dog info.

I'm fairly certain that by now, instead of just riding a Pitbull, he probably feels like he tried to pet one and got bit for his trouble. And just FYI...I personally did a search for "spark plug gap" and this guy's post was the only one in the top 5 or so that even touches the subject. The search feature on this site is not always productive or even helpful.

If the purpose of this site is to form a click of several well known, very knowledgeable (albeit sometimes a bit abrasive), hard core Big Dog enthusiasts who enjoy chatting with each other at the exclusion of sometimes inexperienced new blood then this is a good start. Kinda like walking into a new watering hole for the first time and everything goes quiet as soon as they notice you. The "YOU AIN'T WELCOME" mat is obviously out.

If, however, you want the site to grow (which is a good thing for all of us - new vendors, new insights, new fabricators) then barking and growling at newbs is counterproductive.

Just my .02 - bite me if you wish, I have thick skin.

Very well said Mike and a lesson for all of us with all these new guys coming on. Sometimes I guess those of us that have been on here for a while get kinda tired of the re-posts but thanks for the eye-opener.

:2thumbs:

Thanks,
Ray

Good call mike.

I guess its a good call to answer the question and then suggest looking around a bit before bombaring us all with more questions that could be found.

And yes the search button isn't always easy. Plus, alot of the info is barried in other non-related threads. That makes it real tuff.

On the note of this thread. The GAP info is found on your downtube sticker, which by the way should be off the bike on stuck somewhere like your ownders manual and therefor found twice in said owners manual.

Another round please

Well said. If you see a post and it may be the same old stuff and it bugs you, just don't respond. Just because you may have been on here a while, have 8 million posts, doesn't mean you own this site. This site is for everyone. Being positive gets you everywhere, negative makes you look like an ass.
