Hey guys I have an oil leak. Look like its collecting just in drops while sitting. On left side of bike in from fo of kickstand. Also have some coming through Bratcher tubes. Have had Harley shop tell me it's just normal since I just bought bike. And previous owner didn't ride much but definitely makes me nervous. I mean I don't want it to seize up on me. I have to wipe down left side, carb breathers, and top of exhaust every hour on the road... Do I have a gasket leak or something. Also tried to check oil. But the damn dipstick is so hard to figure out. It is short. Like 6 inches long and there is a black line near the bottom and another near the top but like 4 inches apart from one another. ? Is t like a car do I want the oil between this to lines. ? Seems pretty big difference between the two. Or maybe. Just have oil hit bottom line ? I have a 2004 chopper. With 107ci.

This not normal. Describe the problem in detail. You understand some of the engine apparatus? How much oil? When to change? How concretely leak? The fact that you see on the left, does not mean that is flowing to the left. When you're ready to write. I will try to help.

Well when I'm riding I notice it coming out of breather tubes by carb. If I occasionally wipe them while I'm riding I get oil on my fingers. And I first noticed oil running down exhaust on right side of bike. Just figured it was coming out of the carb when I realized there was like when I wiped the breathers. But when I park it in my garage I noticed oil under my bike on the left side. Don't want to sound like an idiot kuz I'm just learning about engines and this is my first chopper but. It was dripping off of the chrome box that is connected to the shifter on the bottoms left side of bike. I think it's the Main belt box or something. Connects the engine to the tranny. When the back left corner had oil if I touch it and seems to be where it's dripping off. But it's a slow drip. If I let bike sit for a few days I get a very smal amour of oil most comes when I ride

You see a drop on the left, because the bike is tilted to the left when standing on a a stand.

1) Check the oil level. (At overflow, the oil will flow out of the air vent.)

2) Measure the compression (if the gases from the combustion chamber into the crankcase break, there will be high pressure. The oil exits the breather.)

3) Check the condition of an oil line. (When the line creases the oil level in the crankcase oil is growing and flies out of the breather.)

4) Check the check ball into the oil pump. (If it does not hold, then it flows into the oil sump. Sump level increases)

5) Check and replace oil filter. KH 170(Not suitable filter Twin Cam.)

If this does not solve the problem, rebild. Replacement pistons, rings, shims, bearings, cylinder boring or replacement. Check the tightness of the valve. Be sure to grind in valve seat. Write clear what did and that was found out. I'm from Russia. Quickly make the intro;)

It may just be your primary leaking. Post pictures of the 'chrome box' you are referring too.....if you have the WRONG OIL FILTER, it will blow oil out of breather tube......
