I had a few motorhomes and 5th wheels over the years. The last was a 40' Sunnybrook toy hauler pulled with a Ford dully. Only got around 9 mpg and on the last trip it cost me $1,100 to go 1200 miles round trip between camping spots, food, diesel and 2 blown tires. I figured it out and if I bought a lawn trailer and hooked it up to the car we could have stayed in nice hotel rooms, ate out and saved around $600 so I sold it all. I thought boats were bad but between the 5th wheel and truck it was always something.

Is this legal . Awsome idea.
It's legal in some states. If you live in the North east or trying to travel in it, ain't happening. Or Virginia, so sorry Paul

Some states have length laws so can't exceed 65-75 ft. Also some states only let you pull a second trailer behind a 5th wheel.

Scroll to the right on the chart and you'll see 2 trailers

As long as the state that you live in accepts it, the others can not deny you. Many people pull fishing boats behind their bumper pull campers

D.O.T. tends to bother the toter homes and show haulers, and it's kinda rare that they pull motor homes over. The Toters and Show Haulers look more like trucks due to the truck cab (Freight Liner or Benz). Here is mine with the race car trailer on the back. 78 feet. The coach is more stable with the trailer on the back. Yep, long train...lol

Stopped in the Carolinas. Coming back from a race in Florida.

740 bucks in fuel. Round trip from NY to Bradenton, and Bradenton back to NY. Average mph was around 66 to 68. Towing does not seem to change the fuel economy one bit. The diferent fuel economy levels are the following mph's. 52-60 over 13.1, 61-68 11.7, 69-75 (your wallet opens up and someone takes a torch to your money)

Coach 40 foot. Trailer 38 from back of box to tongue.

Look great. Put a 2" ball on the back and pull a 1 bike trailer behind it!
I do actually have a 2" receiver hitch on the back of that egg! I use it for a bike rack. I bet I could pull the single bike trailer with it!! I do love that little egg. Its all fiberglass so no roof/siding issues or seams. It has all you need. Its 2450lbs. I sold the Tahoe and now tow it with a std cab Silverdao 4x4 with a 4.8 V8. We went a loop around lake Michigan last year and got 13.5mpg!

Sorry but I told it like it was.... The 2 happiest days in a boaters life is when they first buy it and when they sell it.... same for me with the 5th wheels. My motor home was much better than the 5th wheel but I could only pull 1 vehicle behind which was always my bike so if it rained we were stuck. I once spent 2 weeks stuck inside with the wife in PA.... never again...

Also on towing a trailer with a 5th wheel. The whole East coast won't let you (ask me how I know) I heard and researched swivel wheel trailers which are attached to your rig and don't pivot. I was told they were legal so I spent $3,000 building one. I didn't make it 20 miles before a cop pulled me over. I argued with him that it was legal because it wasn't considered a trailer. He called in a state trouper and then it got bad.... They made me unhook it and park it. They then gave me a ticket for towing 2 trailers, a ticket for no license plate on said second trailer and a ticket for being over length..... I took it to court and lost....

You mean like 7 years ago in Florida when an 18 wheeler dumped a full load of Hawaiian punch all over 95 and I took an alternate route going by my Garmin gps which led me down a road which just ended out of nowhere? yes, I backed it up 3/4 of a mile. It took almost two hours at night to do it. Was a fucking nightmare.

Haha I believe it! 2 hrs 3/4 of a mile Shit that's a nightmare.

I drove a 65' truck and trailer package to TX from MA that was fun until I got stuck in hotel parking lot and had to reverse.
