Regarding the rear exhaust bracket. I believe someone mentioned that it could be loose. The exhaust bracket for my V&H was tight but it had a crack the entire length of the bracket at the weld. Had it re-welded and took care of the sheet metal rattling noise.I know you said all your heat shields were tight.....take them off, go for a ride and see if it still does it.
Does the noise go with the RPMs? Does it get faster over 2500 RPM?
It could be many many things....could be a loose spring on a valve, could be a pushrod bleeding over....etc. etc...
Since WE can't hear the noise, you say it 'sounds' like sheet metal....take your heat shields OFF-even though you say they are tight and go for a ride.....
Leave the clothespin in until you find the noise.....
Thank you....that would be very much appreciated! If you need I can snap some pics real quick.
Not yet. Very frustrating. The bike actually has so few parts! It definitely sounds like it's coming from the front when you are sitting on the bike.Any luck finding your noise on "Black Tooth"?
Where is the compensator spring?I had an odd noise in the front of the Pit...turned out to be a broke compensator spring. Its hard to pinpoint noises sometimes. You'll have to go over it with a fine tooth comb until ya find the bugger.....just let everyone know what ya figure out.
Its behind the compensator which is in front of the front drive gear on the motor. Gotta pull the primary cover to access.Where is the compensator spring?

That was a really great description huh? lol. Its actually part of the compensator itself. When it breaks, things still work, but it can make some weird noises. I replaced the whole assembly and no more noises....well at least not the "old" noises.
Thanks for the suggestion
Thank you for the pics. All are
It does sound like it is coming from the gas tankPossible gas tank vent tube rattling, has happened to many on here...![]()
