Bike was taken there for a starter problem

Hmmmm, not sure on this one, just got my bike back from Andrew Barnes and he said ignition and EHC are gone.

Bike was taken there for a starter problem (most likely the solenoid) and a sticking decompressor, only because I got lazy and strapped for time (because of work) so I figured it was easier. He told me it would be a while cause he was swamped so I said that's fine I have other bikes to ride.11 weeks later still no word from Andrew (my fault for not contacting him earlier) so I call him and he says ignition module was gone when he had it on the lift.

Never a call, I asked him how that could be when it ran fine before.

He kept asking did I jump it with a car? Which it never was, and said he put a new battery and cables in and it cranked fine but no spark ????.When he could get a free lift he would check it out ???? Following Saturday I call again, still no contact from him.

He tells me EHC is gone and ignition module is shot ??? It had a F#@king starter problem.

Pretty sure he was giving me the bone at this point, he wanted money for parts before he would do any thing ? Really, you have had the bike for 11 weeks, but never contacted me.

So I told him I would bring down the money that he wanted for new parts but instead hooked up the trailer and went and got my bike. Bike was setting in corner all shit with no battery in it ,but yet was told he put a new battery in cause other one was bad, OK. The wiring was re routed and had new battery cables? I asked why? Nothing wrong with original, they where like new because I installed new battery previous fall.

He also charged me for a a new idle mixture screw ??? Why, the f#@king thing don't have spark.

The bike only has 7000 miles and is kept in heated garage, never, outside, was told the cables could be the problem, OK what ever. After getting it home and digging in further I hate to say it but sure looks like EHC was changed out with a different one and nothing else done.

Guess he thinks I have lots of money.

Sorry to bash him but the truth is the truth. There are a few other dogs there for repairs, if any one purchased a used EHC please let me know. The last time I dealt with him he was a stand up guy that I trusted, working out of his little garage at his house, now it just seems like he is charging people for shit they don't need so he can get more cash to build up his new shop faster.

Just putting this out there so every one knows, Some times greed takes over a man and he changes into some thing that he wasn't.

Are you sure it was in fact the starter? What were your symptoms? Ive never met him personally but Ive talked to Andrew on phone and over email and I personally dont think he would swap out parts and charge you just to get money out of you.

With out writing a novel , yes I know it WAS a starter issue. And it cost me for being a lazy ass. This is MY personal experience, face to face with Andrew, if you call me and I tell you its snowing here, you pretty much take my word for it ,correct ? But later that same day you drive by where I live and it's 95 degrees, well???? Evidently you are only reading part of the original post, this is my personal experience, not a phone call, or an e-mail, face to face. REMEMBER that old saying, A FOOL AND HIS MONEY ARE SOON PARTED. Well that's my personal experience. It is what it is.

I apologize to every one on this forum, my post was not to bash any one .I was just posting what my personal experience was, and have receipt's and a current voice mail to prove that some funky stuff was being (or tried to be ) done. This is a good thread and hopefully will stay up for a while. There is a wealth of knowledge on this site, and this is a very hot topic. I don't want to be the one to mess it up for others. If I did some thing wrong I accept my punishment with no hard feelings, I am done with it, but all my previous post is true, L.T.

Yeah that's a problem, with me he told me in a voice mail it didn't matter if my bike was next or not, I had four other bikes to ride. WHAT ????????? What has that got to do with anything ? I was going to have him do work for me but guess what, I went and got my bike. I guess he wasn't going to make my bike a priority even if it was next in line,so F@CK him. In his mind he is a god when it comes to working on motorcycles, but in reality there are people that have forgot more than he knows. If it was me, well, I would be setting in his driveway waiting for him to open. He doesn't deserve your money, go else where.
