05 chopper frames?

how do I know what frame I have? It's an 05 chopper.

The easiest way is to look at your front engine mount. If it is aluminum, it's a Daytec. If it is medal, it should be stamped down there somewhere. I can't remember when Big Dog started making there own frames. Someone help me out here, I drinking not thinking.

I thought it bolted directly from engine block to frame?

Other than front lower mount another way is to check the upper mount on opposite side of coil cover. Rt will have a stamp or mark, dt will have nothing

I knew it was stamped somewhere.
This is a DT front motor mount.

And this is one of Big Dogs frames front mount.

If it doesn't look like either one of these, look above your carb, at the top motor mount and see if it is stamped RT.

The places to keep an eye on is the bottom frame rail were it connects to the rear swing arm bracket, and right behind the fuel tank where it Y's. It is obvious to see, there will be rust coming through a small hair line crack in the paint. This doesn't happen very often, but it's nice to keep an eye on it.

I think the RT's had more problems that the DT's, and I don't recall anyone saying anything about the Big Dog frames.

I have the daytec frame, never checked for cracks. Ill see if I can see anything on mine, may be hard to spot with a black frame though

Yes be careful with the dark colored bikes, can be hard to see, you really have to look.

Hard to make out in pic but it looks like something is stamped. If theres a leaf like thing stamped its 100% a rt frame. My dt frame has nothing stamped on uppper mount
