bike had new rip kit installed and a new vfi installed. Bike starts and runs for 1 second then dies, any help would be greatly appreciated.

The S&S vfi system doesn't know what pressure it's running at as per S&S. The fuel pump turns on for a pre detemined length of time when you hit the run button and then shuts down until you start the bike. Then the ecm takes over and runs the pump continuously. That's why it's hard to diagnose a fuel problem on the efi bikes with out a pressure gauge to see if the pump is putting out at least 55 psi and when you shut the pump down watch the gauge to make sure the pressure holds for quite a while. If not you have a problem with the fuel regulator either not working correctly or the o-rings for it are worn and letting fuel bleed by.

Check your coil
I just went through this with a 2010 Bulldog
Mounting bracket was broken and the front plug wire coil boot was pushed against the front head.
Everytime the motor fired it would short through the plug boot and make the Ehc reboot causing the motor to shut off.

Does the check engine light come on when the bike shuts down? First I would make sure that none of the pins in the VFI controler are bent or pushed back not making a good connection . If not let me know and I will give you some more things to check or PM me your phone number and I will call you and see if we can't sort it out!

I had a similar thing happen. It was just loose, but enough to ground out the plug wires. The efi wires are tight to the heads. Especially if the fiber washers are missing like mine were.
