I have bought and sold harleys over the years with custom paint that didn't match the title color and it never created a problem. That's about the current going price for one without a title "issue". Circumstances surrounding the title seem sketchy. Apparently the bike was totaled under an insurance claim and was then bought and retitled resulting in the "rebuilt" title. For an insurance company to total the bike there was more than a dent. The department of motor vehicles does not go around looking for dents in tanks when issuing new titles.
Yes in PA. same thing. My wife had a Toyota Tacoma that got hit in passenger side front. Truck frame was good we where still driving it. I did not even think the front end aliment was off. Needed hood, fender, radiator support, bumper, grill and lights ect. I believe if it cost more than 40% to fix the insurance company said it was totaled. We almost bought it back for a low price. I wanted too, but the boss said no. I could have fixed it but it would have had a salvage title. Salvage titles are worth less at re-sale. Now for the paint on a big dog, I was told by the original owner he paid about $5,000.00 extra just for the paint when he bought the bike new from big dog? not sure if that was true?Rebuilt titles are also known as salvage titles and mean the vehicle was destroyed and rebuilt. They usually follow an insurance company declaring the vehicle a total loss. FYI.
looking at some of the top in custom paint jobs around I would say he probably was right. I paid 3G for a paint job on my wife's 2011 heritage.Yes in PA. same thing.
