Head Light Trim Ring

I can't get it off, I removed the set screw, I have sprayed it with oil and tapped on it with a rubber hammer. It will not move. Anyone have any ideas, I really frustrated with it right now.

I used box tape. Clean it real well, stick the tape to it with a few inches hanging off to pull with. Worked great after fighting it by hand for 10minutes.

My 03 Pitt had two set screws and once I loosened still had to use a rubber mallet and by hand with rubber gloves for a better grip. Take your time, walk away if needed. Easy to damage the threads and housing when frustrated.

If u can get ahold of 3m doubled sided tape it works best, but I didn't have any.

I had my son press in on the headlight itself as I turned it with one of those rubber things you use to unscrew mason jars

I had some tile work done a while back and they used a membrane under the tile, that guarantees the tile won't break. One side very sticky and the other has a fiber material. The unused material was left and I have a habit of saving Damn near everything.

I used this on the beauty ring and worked very well except it leaves some black glue on the ring but is removed easily with some Lacquer Thinner and a Q-tip.

Get a can of PB Blaster and spray it . Wipe the ring off and get a pair of rubber gloves and stand beside the bike. you can put a lot more force on the ring than standing in front. If you have the set screws out it should give up.

I tried that already, I have had this out twice before, it shouldn't be this difficult. It's going to the shop this afternoon.

no no, after my mishap, my wife said to me, I knew it wasn't going to go well when you picked up the 4lb hammer

The only way ya can't screw things up is if your not doing anything

They had to drill a small hole in the trim ring, not all the through, just enough where the could use a punch and small hammer to get it to turn. When he put it back together the small drill hole is at the top where you can't see it. It's not a very good design to start with, I can live with it.

I would put a dab of silicone in it to keep the water out

Now we're talking A little anti seize might help in the future if they put any on
