What tool is this ?

In your first picture there is a paper in the background that looks like it says something about "flex shaft attachment" or something like that. Could it be some kind of quick change adapter for like a drill or grinder or whatever? Maybe the spring end attached to a drill spindle and the small end held a reamer or burr file or other interchangeable tool??:oldconfused::oldconfused: Possibly holds different sized hones?

It's actually 2 pieces, the dis-connect and the spring.
