Belt guard issues?

I took off the guards, really cleans up the lines. I'm planning on taking down the brackets at the rear legs by the pulley but I wanted to run it by you guys before i commit. anyone have any issues with removing the belt guard? I saw that someone caught a rock in their pulley and snapped a belt. I'm not so worried about that, more so about some broad on the back jamming her flip flops into my final drive.

I pulled my forward cover for a while... then decided "what if" as 05Chop said. Put it back on and had a tribal flame cut in both, front and rear.

Anybody have a pic of the tranny area without a guard? Seems like that area would look like something is missing because of the shape of the tranny housing.

Lambo, that really looks sharp. May I ask, how did you cut that design? Did you have it re-chromed:up:

Here you go, I removed all that crap including that exhaust bracket. Really cleaned up the frame.

Okay, I'm sold. Any advice for taking off the brackets? I'm thinking angle grinder and touchup paint.
For me, I left it to the professionals. They carefully cut off all the frame mounted brackets for the belt guards, and exhaust braket, smoothed it out, and then had my painter blend it in to the frame powdercoat. They did an awesome job, it looks like it came out of the factory like this. I had this done at the same time I had my bike painted. Anyway that's how I had it done, and it will give you an idea about what to ask for if you get an estimate.

I would imagine if it was not done right, it would probably look bad, so if you take it somewhere make sure they are capable of making it look completely factory. If so, you will absolutely love the way it looks especially if you want a clean look.

I'm pretty handy with an angle grinder and a file so I'm not worried about taking the metal off. The only part of the operation I'm unsure about would be painting to match. My frame is gloss-black (just like yours) so I imagine that part wouldn't be to difficult. I might put together a howto on this "Howto: Fuck up your frame"

If you have the skils, then it wouldn't be to difficult I would think. As far as paint, yeah, it's gloss black, so if you are a painter to, you should be good to go. Post your progress if you decide to do it.

Dremel - and yes rechormed - anytime you cut chrome you have too. I also did the same to the front belt guard to match.

I use to run without a front belt guard - but a girl on the back had her heel fly into it... so put it back on...
