Avon Rear Tire

Energy One

I will be needing a new rear tire later this year and started looking for a new one. I normally buy through Dennis Kirk. Currently running a Metzeler 300.

Awhile back I thought I heard that Avon was coming out with a 300/35 with a harder rubber compound like the old Venom tire.

Does anyone have a model number or any news and place to buy this new Avon tire.

Thanks!

Can't help you there Rob.

I just ordered a Shinko yesterday. Going to give them a try. I got it for $180 from 2 wheel and got a $10 discount on top of that.

Figured I can't go wrong. My last Avon didn't last long.

About how many miles do you get on them Lorenzo? I've always used Avon so I'd be interested in knowing the life of the tires.. I've averaged about 5k for a set on my K9 with Avon's..

I just got a front shinko tire from 2wheel, received it today.

Bigdogbro, if you sign up with 2wheel.com they give you a $10 credit right away, plus free shipping over $49. I got my front tire for $56 shipped. Think the shinko rear would be $170 afyer the discount

Time for new tires again, I went away from Avon for the end splice and low mileage problems. Metzlers do require a trimming of the sidewall to clearance the tire, do the Shinko tires require trimming for clearance?

I have been running Metzeler front & rear but now the rear is getting 2/3rds down. Both Bro2 and I had to shave the belt side sharp edge tire sidewall down about 1/4" to get good belt clearance on both our 2007 Bulldogs. The tire has performed well.

Who has been running a Shinko 300mm rear for some time and how is it holding up?

Does the Shinko 300mm fit correctly like the Avon Venom or is sidewall grinding needed like on the Metzelers 300mm?

Thanks!

My 2011 shows a little dry rot too might need to replace both tires. Shinko looks pretty good and with a good price I'll be watching this thread.
