rear rocker box leak

I have a leak at my rear rocker box. It is directly near the rear rocker box bolt in the corner. This bolt head is directly underneath my frame tube and it is impossible to get any type of allen key in there. I am going to have to grind down an allen key and was wondering even if I get a key in there will the bolt be too long to get out because of the frame being so close to the top of the bolt ? I have the original TP boxes.

I didnt take mine off when I did my rear compression realease but when I was looking into it I think I remember reading that you can get it off while on the frame. They make a special tool for the back bolts but grinding the allen wrench will be much cheaper. So yes, pretty sure it will work.

correction I just took a better look and it looks like the leak is lower and around the head gasket. I am sure that I cannot
ride with the head gasket leaking through the season. Sucks because riding season is starting up in my area and this sounds
like a regasketting of the entire top end. Any advise or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks for the replies so far...

Depending on how many miles are on the bike if you have good compression on both cylinders and they are within 10% of each other all you may need is a top end refresh. That can be done on a Saturday and a few beers, if you have the tools etc of course.
S&S has a set of allen wrenches for working in around the frame.

Thanks Kapt,. Do you have all of the gaskets for this and would I need gasket # 75 on your site. I see you have a rocker box gasket kit but it didnt look like you include that # in the kit, that is depicted on your site ? I have an account with you on your site.
1. Would there be a need to convert to the S&S boxes at this point while I am doing this ?
2. When you say refresh are saying just pull the boxes off of both sides and regasket and re-tourque ?

i have same leak. i cut a allen wrench down with mini cut off wheel on my dremel. its the rocker box cover leaking. i have to redo mine about once a year. i have the 4 bolt rocker box covers they are supposedly known for that. i cleaned surface put black rtv on the head.. i do that i am good for 3k miles before it starts leaking again

What brand of gaskets are you using? Shouldn't have to be doing gaskets every 3k...

ordered them from curtis 2 years ago, dont have to get new ones but i have to clean and use a little rtv to get it to stop.. but that only lasts so long. any ideas i am open? i am getting ready to do it again before the weather gets good..

Pic is worth a 1000 words here. Where exactly is it leaking ? There are also fiber washers on the bolts that need to be replaced those will leak too.

try and get a pic up soon. but it is the rear jug kick stand side where the oil pools in the cover when its on the kick stand. have a small leak in the front as well same side where the oil pools and it is coming from the rocker cover im am 100% on that

I just found a leak on mine in the exact same spot. My dog is 11 years old and this is the first problem or leak I have ever had with that so I guess I am blessed.
