If you were to trade your dog.......

For some other brand of bike, what would it be? I have been very lucky with my 04 Pitbull, but with the threads that I am reading I feel it's only a matter of time before I get mine. So, I am thinking about either selling and buying something a little more reliable or supplementing with a second bike to play on. Any thoughts from the pound?

I cannot imagine riding anything other than my dog...it would be like having a crazy love affair with a hot stripper, and then shacking up with a fat ugly chick.

Considering the number of bikes that Big Dog has produced, verses the number of problematic posts we see on here, the law of averages indicates you will not have any unusaul problems, if you have not already. Many owners enjoy trouble free times on their dog, and it is certainly not a given that you will become an exception.

it's like going on a ford forum and asking everyone if you should trade your mustang in on a charger.

re

If you have over 6000 or so miles and have had all your recalls and SB's taken care of you are probably in the clear.

Unfortunately, I was on the receiving end of BD's unreliability this weekend, but I'm not ready to give up on them just yet :flag:.

if I were ever to get rid of the dog I think it would be to build my own custom - doubt that will happen any time soon though

Now that's what I'm talkin about! I just started buying the parts and when the pile was big enough (10 years later) I built it and it has everything I wanted and didn't have to worry about epa and was only out $15K

GDOG, do not let a few issues with some bikes get you down. With 850 members here with great results, and a few issues, the satisifaction more than overwhelms the problems.
Ppl are posting their problems to help get theem fixed. So you notice them

When I get rid of my dog, or any future dog, it is because it is time to get my fuked up ass off the road.

I've had more than my share of problems. Think about this every time I have another problem. For a custom I'd go Yamaha. Sound nice, look great, bulletproof and reasonable price. There are a couple of places in Miami doing really nice looking choppers. I might also go mutant Buell for a bar hopper. For just long reliable rides I'd go Raod King w/ no windshield and 60's paint with beach bars. I had enough problems w/ BD that I had to get a trailer early on. Once you're out of waranty forget about it.

I've never had a serious problem with my Dog. Small oil leak and little stuff that i find fun to fix, but never stuck on the side of the road. I told myself a while ago I would NEVER get rid of my dog. If I ever get another bike, my current 03 Pitbull would be my project bike. I just love the damn thing and its always treated me right.

NOW.....i recently ran into a GREAT deal on a custom bike. This guy has an 07 thats been ridin twice and the guy doesn't know how to ride and wants pennies for the bike. They bike needs some cosmetic work as he has let it sit and rust a bit but its a sweet ride. Only thing that has me second guessing it has a rev-tech. But if I sold my bike I could buy this, completley re built it (that was always been a goal of mine to do) and I would still come out making money, perhaps selling it and getting a new dog? Who knows....but it has me really thinking.
