I now suspect the EHC but is it possible it could be the ignition switch? Connections checked, battery is good and grounds are good.

I thought that also, jiggled it, turned it on and off 20 times while jiggling it, same thing nothing, an hour later I turned the switch everything came on. So I went ahead and changed the key switch and the next time it did it even with a new key switch, same shit. I even put a jump start on it thinking it was the battery, same thing, nothing, completely dead no headlights or anything. An hour later it started right up

I think a lot of people are still using the EHC. I know back in 04 to maybe 06 the quality control sucked. Then if I'm not mistaken BD went with another company to make the EHC and the quality of these went up. Some of these problems could be caused by the owner not knowing the correct way to do things on the dog. It was a clean look. But now with the after market replacements they are looking good and dependable. The wire plus back in its day was pretty much our only choice. But it was a wiring nightmare. I bought and still use a EHC on my Ridgeback. But when and if I need to replace it I would look into one of these replacements.

I agree awg, I didn't want to change mine and tried everything else first, I figured cause I have an 09 that I would be good, but after being stranded so many times in a few months and checking and trying everything else I decided to go for it and went with DOC's ESC and have had 0 issues since, and I've put over 2,000 mi on it! So if you do change it out I highly recommend DOC's ESC!:old2:

I agree with checking everything else first. Some blame the EHC for everything. Even when they run out of gas!
That's funny but so true awg! Unfortunately it has become the first thing we think when something goes wrong, bike dies and immediately in the back of your mind your thinking, Oh shit! My EHC is going bad! Lol!
