Why would you waste the money? You already Paid for the new carrier and updated flange?Curtis, is it possible to just get the bearings and inner hub in the clutch basket assembly, you can see the back plate is fine, but the bearing and inner hub has an indent in it when I spin it?

Brad,

Yes, the 3054A is the assembly part number. This includes the "new" 3053. We sell this only as the 3054A assembly so that bearing and inner hub are properly pressed and assembled to the carrier. Even under extreme conditions I have not seen the new carriers fail.

-ScottBadBrad said:
Hey Scott. Got a part question for you. Is the 3053B an upgrade to the 3053 clutch basket? I ordered a 3054A but that is what Baker sent me instead. Did I get the wrong part? No need to put it all back together if it's not the right part. Sure would like to be riding this weekend. Just need to know before I put it all back together. What I received looks just like the basket that broke. Baker was closed by the time I called yesterday. Thanks
I actually need one of those too. You can get them from baker but I was too pissed and didn't want to get them more money.Curtis, is it possible to just get the bearings and inner hub in the clutch basket assembly, you can see the back plate is fine, but the bearing and inner hub has an indent in it when I spin it?
True, I didn't realize the older one wasn't heat treated, that would explain the indent on the inner hub.Why would you waste the money? You already Paid for the new carrier and updated flange?
Why even waste it to update the hub when that carrier is known for cracks?
Fyi searched some old threads found this info from Scott @ baker

Amen!!!!BD screwed all of us. Bad berings/gears and second rate parts. Just go on line and buy a Revtech or Baker trans and be done with it.... I'm so pissed off about this I could scream... I bought the BD because of the S&S motor and the Baker trans.. Both which are BS... and not really true products.. High priced bikes with inferiority parts.... We should all b screaming.....
I love them. I'll deal with the issues cause if I ride a Harley after riding a Big Dog I feel like a homo and that is not fun.I am screaming, thank you Jesus, I'm glad I got one before they went under,I love the looks and the ride and I can't put a price on how I feel when I ride this bike.
If all you guys are pissed,
then sell the sum-na-bitch and get something else. Ya can't cry over spilt milk, well some people do

Those of us that did, lost 12-15K in no time at all, but shit happens, oh well. I'm with ya Eric, if I couldn't work on it myself, it might be a different story. But I say ride onI didn't buy this bike thinking I could just turn the key everyday like a Honda. I knew I was going to have to wrench and do it myself cause I couldn't afford a mechanic. Maybe it's cause I went in with this mindset? I didn't buy a new one, I couldn't afford new realistically.

Tru dat, but some just wrench and move on without posting on here and some have had bad experiences and some of it is self inflicted, try to fix it and they have no idea what their doing, then you have those that will bitch about anything that comes across their path cause that's what their used to doing from the time they get up until they fall asleep.I still find it funny that some have nothing but problems and others ride on forever. Maybe it depended on what day of the week the motor was put together. Just saying no body likes Mondays, and everybody wants to get the hell out of work on Fridays. So that leaves you three days of good work.
I have the info somewhere, but the shop who did the work ordered it and said it was new, not rebuilt. Class shop the family has dealt with for years on custom bikes, so I would bet he is telling the truth. That being said, I have to find the info. The starter issue may just be something in the starter that needs to be cleaned or adjusted slightly.
You say "New" starter where did you buy it from?
Easy to check compression releases.
Place a finger on each one as you push the start button.
If it pulls away from your finger for a second or so then it is working.
Thats not to say they can't be plugged up with carbon but thats a whole other story.
You can always unload it and buy a HondaBD screwed all of us. Bad berings/gears and second rate parts. Just go on line and buy a Revtech or Baker trans and be done with it....
