best way to clean polished engine

What do you find the best product to clean and polish engine alumium. I have a lot of tarnish on cases and cylinder fins,

I use WD-40 with a rag wrapped around a paint stick, spray the stick and wipe thru the fins

Agree on the paint stick for the fins but I still think the Wizards that comes in the band aid can is the best AL cleaner and polisher.

I like using 22 caliber bore cleaning brass brushes and some Bike Brite

Cycle armour is pretty good at removing oxidation and tarnish with mininul effort.

That bike cleaner stuff in a can was magic. Bought a few cans at Advance and will post a picture of it when I get a few more.

What I have found is Diamond Bright Truck Box Polish you get at Lowe's (don't ask where it is just go to where they have the truck boxes). I used this on my engine and front trees. After a couple of applications, it will give them a chrome like appearance. When rubbing the liquid in it will turn black. I use a plastic trowel on a rag to get between the fins and use the same trowel to wipe the residue with a clean rag. In some of the really small tight place, I will use a cuetip. This has been the best aluminum cleaner and polish I have used. It takes a couple of sessions but really protect and looks chrome like. Good luck

Thanks I will try Diamond Bright, I have tried a lot of product most of which will not remove the oxiidation from the aluminum. One thing I did get from another member on the site which works excellent is to use a paint stir stick and a rag to get between the fins.

Just started the lenghty process, I dont think the motor was ever polished since the bike was purchased, will send before and after when I am done.
