K9/Pitbull Handlebar Swap

Energy One

SKOGDOG

One of the old ones.
Does the bike handle differently with longer front?

Tapio
Not that I can tell riding it. I did wind up getting a longer kickstand, but a lot of K9 owners do that anyway.
There are some things in which two inches makes a big difference in a mans life, but two inches on a 9 foot long motorcycle doesn't matter too much....on that bike, it's less than a 1% increase.
The thing is that it's so good looking....

OK Franco--Roger took his other K9 home, so There is not a stock one here to measure. My K9 has a nonstock (2" longer) front end and is 1/2" lower than stock...
But we all know pictures do not lie, and the new handlebars are 3 feet, 9 1/2 inches, or 113.02 cm in eurospeak.
You can compare it to your stock...I really like the looks of them, and Roger will tell you he loves to ride with them.
Hope that helps.
Thanks Rick, much appreciated!

Now.... can someone, with a stock K9, compare it for me, please? I will not be going back home till mid July! :bang:

Thanks.

Well, I ordered the handlebar upgrade and dissembled everything. The trick to putting the new wires in the new handlebars is a crochet needle to push the male end up thru the hole. The only problem with the procedure was they sent me wire for an 07 something and they were about 4 inches too short. Talked to Curtis about a week ago and haven't seen the new wires as of this weekend. Still waiting. I'll send it back before I splice a bunch of wires.
Thanks for the Heads-Up PK. I did get the kit a few weeks ago...but I didnt bother to open it up as I will be moving to a new place very soon. I am waiting for Jan-Feb to do the install.

Please, keep me posted.

Also @KaptinAmerika

Most parts should be from a 2008 Model.

@pknowles

Well... That´s what I´ve got:

1. 1x handle-bar
2. 1x it seems a brake line extension?
3.. 1x Clutch cable
4. 1x Speedo Bracket
5. That should be the harnesses... (next to the speedo bracket) NO LABEL

How long should these be?

These are the ones that came with my "kit". I think they will be too short.
What it reads????
Thanks PK.

I think I just wasted my money anyway... I just broke one trying to pull it out of the lower bar´s hole....

I am not spending a single more dollar with this shit. Its too expensive to maintain this bitch in Europe!!! :oldangry:

I am buying a Ducati next.

about 37.5 and 41.5 inches . About the same thing you have. I know it's too late but you lay the bars in your lap and feed the wires down form the top hole then take the crochet needle and stick in the threaded hole at the bottom and you can get the connector heading to the hole by pushing in with the needle and down with the wire at the top hole . once it starts out the bottom hole just keep pressure on it and you can grab it and work it on thru.BE VERY CAREFUL UNHOOKING THE CONNECTOR FROM THE LITTLE CIRCUIT BOARD IT IS JUST CHEAP PLASTIC AND VERY FRAGILE.
yeah, same length.....

As I said before............. it should be 08 Pitbull orRidge. WTF!!!!

Ducati? Bla.

You broke the new one or old one?

What's the length of the measurement on the bars?

Franco just make your own at this point get some 22 wire and run it through and stick the JST connectors on that came with your kit. Will be way cheaper than ordering new wires from stateside. I've picked up rolls at the local computer store with the correct colors.

But looks like Curtis needs to update the wires included in the kit.

I've picked up all the colors and 22 wire from the local computer stores. I've rewired my rear tail lights twice on my ridgeback and the K9 when I bought it left front turn signal didn't work. Had a short in the backbone on the +12 wire so just ran a single wire through the backbone instead of pulling it all apart.

Also using your own wire will let you string it through then cut it and allow plenty of room to work with.

I agree the kit needs to be fixed with a longer harness. You shouldn't have to wire it up yourself. Just giving you some options :)

That front end has been on the bike for so long, I honestly do not recall what stock was like..I'm certain if there was a significant difference, I'd have noticed right away, so I'd say any differences are negligible. I have some records, but am pretty we put that front end on at about 4000-5000 miles, and the miles are over 60K now.
Nobody is comfortable the first time on a K-9. They are too long, and the 300 doesn't take kindly to leaning, either. Those of us who love the breed know you must be especially firm with Dogs--they have to know who's dominant or they try to bite....
