Big dog proprietary!

Energy One
been talking with some forum members lately and really hope this may be useful to some in understanding big dogs!
1. Big dog went proprietary in 04.
So what does this mean?
Electrical system was there design.. We all know the issues there.
2. Handlebars and controls.
What does this mean?
Harley and standard parts don't work! You can change these out and go with standard Harley stuff but I would rather no get into all that needs to be replaced
3. Foot & hand controls
What does this mean?
Big dog parts only
Unless I missed something all other parts are s&s, baker, pm and are still very available.

1 and 3 are damn sure nothing to brag about. The electrical system as everyone knows SUCKS and most of my boots won't fit under the shifter. So much for marking their territory.

Also adjust the brake, and levers, and handlebars.

never had any manufacture know my body size, auto mfgrs, actually have adjustable seats ..wonder why ?

Sure, I bet most of use have done, or are about to do all that.
The distance from foot peg to gear peg, if you will, is a bit short. Starting to change that requires way more metal tools than I happen to have. Fabricating new parts is not my trade... And those HD boots had stupid fat soles.
I gave them to a short guy with big feet, problem solved.
