As Mr Wright said, start with easy stuff.... that happened to me twice, now I lube them once a month. It might not be it but its worth to keep em lubed.

When you change the oil use Redline "Rock crusher" oil! I had a clunking sound in my tranny and since using that oil it is long gone! It's worth a try before tearing into it!

Yes Mike, get some pliers (or a wrench) on the nuts, and move them also side to side while spraying WD-40 or similar into them.
