Got on the bike this past weekend and had a little trouble shifting into 1st was sticky. Got to third and wouldn't shift past 3rd. Got home adjusted shift rod and thought that fixed it but no dice. First guess is loose main shaft bolt or clutch basket? 08 k9 Eli. Any suggestions before I tear into primary cover tomorrow evening.

Have 17435 miles. I adjusted the length of shift rod and it seemed to temporarily fix and them it got difficult to get into first and second could not get into 4th-6th. I have not greased the hemi joints yet.

Mr. Wright

Knows some things
Start with the easy things first.
Shift rod linkage ends, not froze up.
Next to the linkage arm on the trans, there is a big nut. Don't loosen it or play with it, just make sure it tight.
oil in trans.
Primary chain adjusted right. People have argued with me on this one, but I've ran into it several times.
If all that's ok, then it's time to pull the primary cover and start in there.

When you change the oil use Redline "Rock crusher" oil! I had a clunking sound in my tranny and since using that oil it is long gone! It's worth a try before tearing into it!:old2:

Get it off the stand.you need a load on the tire before putting it in gear:D
Bwahahaha, that's funny Ker! Oh, shit! I'm sorry Paul, but you sounded like Ker there for a minute! I love the "lets make fun of John's bike on the stand" bandwagon! Lol! In reality you wankers are parking your dogs for the winter while Johnny boy will be out riding! Whoooohoooo!:chopper::oldhardlaugh:
