The Wicked Irishman
Hey all, haven't been too active of late but like best friends it feels like ive never been away
I recently moved from Jersey to Tucson. Got here 10-3-2015. Shipped my belongings and vehicle and set off to ride the chopper cross country. The plan was to ride south through nj, de, md, wv, va, nc, tn, ga, al, tx, nm, and az.
The plan was to make it a 9 day old school easy rider movie style trip with camping and roughing it along the way.... without all the death at the end. Trip started out awesome as friends escorted my out of jersey. About 100 miles into my trip it started to rain. And for the the next 3 straight days it poured. Rain never stopped me before so i made my way to Skyline Dr in Front Royal Virginia. . From there i camped a i rode through a dense fog that i could have sworn i saw Large Marge driving in from pee wee big adventure. Camped for the night but had to leave the mountain. Zero visibility sucks. So onward south to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Couldn't ride up there either. Damn mega storm tearing up the mountains. But on the next day i got some great riding in along the 489 mile stretch of the blue ridge parkway. Made my way to the snake 489 turns in 33 miles. Great road with a stop at the shady view general store. Worked my way back to the parkway and down to deals gap for the tail of the dragon. 318 curves 11 miles. Rode that top to bottom 2 times in each direction. As well as riding rt 28 and the devils triangle. Did about 600 miles that day of absolute amazing roads in the nc and tn mountains. From there it was to be a free for all with a stop up in Nashville and then in Dallas. But my moving company said they were gonna be arriving on the October 3rd at 7am. I was still at least 1700 miles from tucson. So i had to hustle. Skipped Nashville and heading south to Chattanooga. And just bombed across parts of GA and Alabama. Set up camp at a rest stop in Alabama somewhere. Next morning, phone flew off the bike and was destroyed. Lost all my pics and such. So onto Birmingham al to get a new phone. Picked it up and road straight through to the Louisiana tx state line. Camped there in texas
Woke up with 1132 miles to go and about 38 hours to do it. So off i go tearing through some of the most boring dead straight riding in my life
Man, Northern texas sucks along interstate 20. Lol stopped at strokers ice house in Dallas and had some beers and a bite to eat. With ex ball player randy ready
And then hit the rode. For Arizona. Still had about 900 miles to go. Make a stop in baird tx and see that my odo was at 30k on the dot. Nice. Fuel up for roughly the 20th time and west i went
That is until i gad to fuel in Pecos tx. A tiny town with nothin in it. Well as i pulled into the gas station i felt the rear tire get squirrelly. And thats where my ride ended so i thought. Brake side rear wheel bearing failed at 115am on a friday night in fucking nowhere texas
Put out a few call. And not a shop for 40 some miles. So i camp out there and wait for morning. Morning comea along with more rain. And it turns out that nothing in town is open on Saturdays. I tried to rent a uhaul to get to elpaso 200 miles away but nope all closed hell even the damn tow truck company was closed. They as it turned out run the ubaul location too. So i see a car carrier at the pumps and notice a harley sticker on his rig.... i notice he has a ton of room on his truck. So i ask if hes heading west and reluctantly he says yes. I told him im looking for a ride to elpaso. And he sighs about to tell me no I'm sure. So i tell him I'm riding across country from jersey to Tucson when the the bearing failed. I offered him a couple hundred for a lift and he says oh you're riding a motorcycle ? And i said well i was. Lol he said absolutely im heading to Phoenix, i have to drop these trucks in elpaso first then pick up a load in Phoenix so ill drop you in Tucson, it on the way. This cat definitely lives the biker code. So after a 20 second conversation he agrees to drivee 542 miles to my door. For nothing. I paid for our meals along the way but wouldn't accept a dime for the tow. Turns out to be a pretty cool guy. Thank God because we spent the next 14 hours bullshitting along the way. So now I'm in Tucson Arizona so anybody in the area of 200 miles or so
Im always down for a ride and some beers. So look me up. Thanks for reading. Oh and the destoyed Samsung g6 was still able to get the pics off of it so ill post some up. Thanks for reading.
