Ive had no issue using my slam button for every start in the pass couple years. No shock, kickback, nothing. Only thing I found was sometimes youll get a little grease on yr wrist when you reach through the drive belt. I cant complain, no one can figure out how to start my bike now.

Very interesting. So, you turn the ignition switch on and then push the slam button? Do, you pull in the clutch or depress a CR along with that?

Oops, never mind .... see next post.

Checked out my battery and connections last night. Checked that the CR's are working every time I press the start button and lubed the CR's. Noticed that my front CR isn't sticking up as far as the rear and does not push down as far as the rear when checking the movement. It doesn't have the same or as much travel as the rear. Wondering if that is a problem?
My slam button should be here any day now but I am just going to use it for an emergency. I will see how it goes this weekend.

Installed my slam button but don't use it, tried it once with the key off, turns the engine over like it should. Haven't had the dreaded starter clunk since. I have been holding one C/R down while pushing the starter button just to be sure but is working every time.
One thing I make sure not to do is put my hands on the throttle when starting just in case I was giving it some throttle. I don't think I was but you never know, habits.

Mine did it again yesterday and the only thing I can say that's the same when it happens, and this has nothing to do with this bang, it only happens when I'm at a gas station,:oldhardlaugh:like I said, it has nothing to do with being there, but its the only place it has done it:crazybitch::crazybitch::oldlaugh:

I remember I stayed in fear of not just breaking the jackshaft and getting towed home. But the loud slam sound made everyone look. Glad thats behind me. Good luck all.

Maybe the Slam starter button works better because you have to track down with your right hand to engage it, thus keeping your hand off the throttle.

I just lost the starter last weekend, I'm on the 4th so far, I guess that's good:)
