longer rear fender option?

04 Ridgeback. .....has anyone here changed the stock fender for a longer one? Something with more coverage? Sort of like the "gangster" fenders. I'm considering changing mine. The guys that I ride with are always catching my road sand and such.

Seriously, I'm not sure, but I think you would need to buy 2 blanks of the correct radius, measure the width, cut 'em in half and weld them together to fit the wide tire, and then match the paint. Sorta like those assholes at OCC used to do when they were butchering bikes on TV. I don't know about the people YOU ride with, but I don't think I'd go to that kind of expense and trouble for the people I ride with. I know we have some talented metal workers on this site, maybe one of them will chime in. Good luck.

He's running an 04 ridge so, I think he's got a 250 rear tire. Not sure if it'll look too good due to how close to the tire the fender rides.

I'll try to find the picture of mine. My brother and I welded on an 8 in extension. Tack it on and using a torch heated it and it folded right into place. That was when we split my tank to make it larger. Getting ready to do it on my new KMW Chopper and put the longer BD front fender on

It was just a thought. I thought that by seeing one already done I could better decide if it would be something that I would even like or not.

Unless it was absolutely necessary for some reason I would not do it until you decide to repainted the bike. Good luck and post up some pics if you do it.

I have actually thought about doing this, but for different reasons, I like the down curve on the front fender on my 05 chopper and thought about extending the rear fender to match the front fender more...just to be different I guess
