A buddy of mine just got his first bike a week ago at the age of 47, he used to ride alot when he was in his 20s but never got his license. He really wanted a cruiser but ended up trading his POS Explorer for a 1997 Yamaha FZR600 crotch rocket :oldlaugh:, he plans on keeping it long enough to get his license and then selling for a better bike. In any case I keep giving his shit about his little toy and he said it would kick the Choppers ass. I told him hes probably right.

We take the same route home so we ended up being stopped side by side and he looks over at me, smiles, and takes off fast. So I cranked the throttle and walked right past him, :spank: lmao. He calls me once I got home and said man your bike has balls, didnt think it would be that fast! Also said that the sound when I passed was insane, he was on my right.

I'm sure once he learns how to really ride that little thing I wouldnt stand a chance but it sure felt good to shut him up :old2:

LOL, I cant count how many times I have had them at a light reving up then blasting off the line, of course I let them go as I let the clutch out then by the time he gets across the intersection I have hooked up then a second gear burn out az I blast past him......

The modern day Rockets are very light and have a lot of HP and torque for their size. I think from 0 to 60 it can be close but the skill of the rider is what makes the difference. Shift gears make the difference for me. My 2007 Daytona 675 shift very smooth, consistent, and quick compared to my Big Dog. If I could shift my Dog as quick as my Triumph, I would feel very confident from 0 to 60 mph if I were to be challenged. Since I am not, I just pull away smartly and let them wonder! It's like my wife's vette. Everyone wants to race her and she just putts along. She did get a speeding ticket once in Alabama slowing down through 100!

Yeah I'm sure if he figures the bike out he might be able to take it but for now I can gloat, and if we never try again, he will be left wondering!!!
