Spark all over the place.......

Its not my K9... it that little chinese shit I bought for the wife.... after three months of me being away I came home and the little shit is playing up.... it just wets the plugs... its brand new (under 1K miles)... well.... checked spark on the spark-plugs and its all over the place.... instead of being where it should be it is on a side, where the top electrode is soldered to the plug. WTF???

It always been running rich... needs carb adjustment but its a bitch for me because I don't have a vacuum gauge, its by-cylindrical engine. Two Carbs, with two airl/fuel mixture screws......

Little shit is driving me nuts and I am wasting my riding time trying to get this thing up & running... Wife swears she did not touch it............

ANY IDEAS b4 I burn it down? Cheers.

start simple and try changing the plugs, especially if they are the original chinese shit.

Spark will go to the nearest ground if that's on the side that's where it will go. If you got the plug at a weird angle to the fins it will jump sideways that's not unusual.

Change the plug and wires first before you go beating your head on the ground.

Look up the carb I bet they have instructions for tuning like the S&S one and just start there.

and Franco, whats up with the old pics, you should be able to adjust them individually as you would others. Turn the screw in till it stops, meaning the cylinder quits firing and count the turns out till it does the same, and split the difference, for each one.

After you change the plugs put some dielectric grease around the inside of the spark plug boots (the boots on both ends of the wires but not on the connections).

Its ok to ask about a cam upgrade, but if your going to have 793 posts asking questions, well then do a search on Franco, cam upgrade, and we'll see you in a month or so after you read his responses. Its kinda like asking the tire question, Avon or Metzler?

You can look up info on that bike too as it's the same bike sold here as the Johnny Pags Spyder Chopper. Might help a bit although you already got some great ideas and info from these guys. Sounds like the plugs are so fouled with gas that they are looking to spark in the easiest path to ground. Definitely go with new plugs and wires if you can as already mentioned. Let us know how you make out, Shoo

Well..... the other day I did have the chance to ride a Mastiff.... stock.... Mate, you don´t know what you are missing for not changing to a 585 cam. that thing seemed like I was riding a 250 cc compared to my K9 ! On the other hand, my friend after riding my K9, he got off all excited and half shaking... his words were "This is a MONSTER, what have you done to it? I want the same!!!!" hes already ordering the 585 cam and programmable ignition module!

Adjusted the carb the best I could (I just need a vacuum-gage and synchronize the two carbs to get it just right) the thing is moving quite well now. It was shit before and was always fooling the plugs.

Did you change the pipes? Are the right plugs being used (too cold)? If you were closer, you could come over and we could use an exhaust gas analyzer on her and balance the carbs. You might have to change the jets.

It would be great if you could find me a Service Manual for this thing..... it has something there that beats me.... some sort of tubes coming out of the heads going into some "device" under the tank with another tube into one of the intakes.... The "device" has an intake hole.... it sucks air... well, I plugged the fucker and since then it runs alot smoother and does not backfire anymore!!!

The white tape is where I plugged that air intake...... weird it had no filter or nothing... I might be wrong but it seems to me it should be plugged?

Oh BTW, the only mod I´ve done to her is a 2-1 exhaust. Rest is all stock.

Yup, changed the pipes to a 2-1 set up.

I will have to take it to a mechanic (God knows when)... can´t be bothered with it right now... I have one week left of R&R and the wife has only done 200 Miles if so on her... I´ve done the other 800... it just have 1000 Miles... its brand new but I´ve readed in a local Forum for this things that they do not come out of factory well set up... everybody had problems when new.... Thing is in that Forum are "useless" they ALL are newbies in the Motorcycle world (they first bike)... they have not a clue..... unfortunately.
