i have a 1989 HD FXR so I know these bikes are not as reliable as a Honda, my tools never rust. . I am looking at a 2005 K9 and really like the bike, clean with 10K miles. What should I look for problem wise while inspecting the bike prior to purchase. Common problems? Also should the lack of parts as BD is out of business be of huge concern. Most choppers seem pretty simple to repair? Thanx for any suggestions!

Welcome from Louisiana. My Dog has been more reliable than the two Honda bikes I owned. But, I must say my Triumph Bonneville America has been the most reliable and is my go to bike anytime no matter what. It seems like it runs better than ever with over 30,000 miles. You'll probably have to work on something or upgrade a thing or two because you feel the need. And then, all you have to do is ride her over and over again!

I have an '08 Big Dog Mutt and have not had any issues with it yet. Bought it new the end of '07....LOVE IT!!!

Welcome and 06 was first year for k9's. If it were me I would stick with 07 and up k9's or a 06 with S&S rocker boxes. Why take the chance on TP rocker boxes when the price is so low on choppers.
