Hey all, I've been working on this project on and off for a few weeks now. Anyone that didn't see my introduction this bike was my brothers and has been sitting for years after the fender cracked due to the weight of the plate bracket and vibration which caused the bracket/plate/lights to fall off. It was really dirty and chrome bubbling/peeling. I cleaned it up a bit before starting to work on it, but she still needs a lot of love. I should have time this weekend to finish up or at least get her running. The gas tank doesn't seem to have rust as it was drained. I have a few questions though if anyone could help me out. First off I was looking for a service manual for a 1999 Bulldog and can't find much of anything for the older Dogs(free or purchase). I'm not sure the motor size, I haven't checked the stroke though the plug hole. I plan on doing that this weekend. It has the TP rocker box(maybe? I could stand corrected by forum members) and super G carb. The gas tank bracket is missing(I do not have any pics with me..it basically has a plate coming off the frame with two bolt holes). I am replacing fuel/oil lines as needed. The carb has a port that I think should be plugged? The backing plate of the carb has a port also that I think was used for the head vents at one time(now has a bypass that probably needs a filter as it is just vented to ground). There is a wire that is not connected to anything that I am not sure what it is and a few miscellaneous bolts missing(not a big deal..I can try until I find the right one). Biggest issue that I have atm is the wire that I do not know where/if it goes to something and the gas tank bracket. I talked to CAJONES and they didn't have one. Please see pictures for reference. Thanks in advance for any help!

you say they are TP heads, i believe they actually are S&S. someone with more knowledge will say for sure, maybe John Sach.

y'all might be right. I am not that familiar with the S&S motors. I've just read that the ones with 6 screws on the rocker cover was S&S and the ones with 4 were TP. That would be good if it was S&S. Thanks for the heads up on it! I'm new to this style motor so still learning and researching.

The rocker boxes are S&S evo style. Big Dog only used TP on the 117 for a couple of years

The wire on the right side looks like it may be the connector for the starter selinoid connection. Take a look at the starter and see if there is a place it would plug onto.

I will check the size of the exhaust bracket bold when I get to my shop but I think it is 5/16 course thread.

The bolt on the Thunderheart coil mount will be either 5/16 or 3/8 course thread. All the bolts should be standard american threads.

The nipple on the carb should have a rubber cap on it. Napa has them.

The air cleaner I do not believe is stock. The fitting was for a crank case breather hose.

If you get the numbers off of the engine block and call S&S they can tell you what it is if no one has fooled with it.

You have a lot of work ahead of you. BEFORE YOU RIDE IT CHECK THE TIRES!!! If they are much more than three or four years old the May be dry rotted and unsafe to ride on.
Good luck with you're project.

Thank you very much for the info Frank. The tires do need replaced..that's on the list of things to do. Good tires are a priority for me. They still looks good, but I won't risk riding on a tire that has sat that long. I will double check the starter for the wire. That was my first guess, but it looked like it was already wired up. I thought I was going to have a long weekend, but a guy broke his foot so I get to cover.
