Has anyone tried wrapping the pipes before putting the heat shields on? Was just wondering if this would reduce heat. Just a thought.

I did it on the previous K-9 -- Was hard to quantify the difference but it felt a little cooler.

Just have to make sure you still have air gap between wrap and heat shield.

Need the air gap I agree...

The only reason why I don't see the point tho is it's only going to transfer the heat elsewhere so:

A) Goes back to the head - probably not the best place for more heat
B) Transfers down the exhaust where you don't have a heat shield

You are not doing this to try and wear shorts are you?

We wrapped both our 2007 Bulldogs with V&H Big Radius II pipes (full heat shields) because the rear cylinder pipe heat shield is very close to the side cover by 3/8". We wrapped the rear pipe about 5" down then replaced the heat shield over the top. Fiver years now and no difference can be seen between the front and rear head exhaust ports when the pipes are off. No more blistering of the side cover paint either.
