So this morning I finished up the final pieces to the 585 cam install, Tuned Induction intake, oil change, K&P Oil Filter, and throttle maintenance...
WOW... What a difference...
First this I noticed was the sound at idle... Honestly, don't like it.. But hold on... I cut my baffles down to about 5.5", very gargled, deeper, but gargled, which I believe is from the cut baffles, but definitely a very noticeable sound difference right off the bat... Don't know if I should try the BigCity Thunder inserts, or cut the baffles down a tad more... Some of you have said that with the baffles removed it sounds horrible.. Maybe its just me, but I don't like the sound at idle, I want that fat, mean, lop sound when its idling, and right now it sounds like a cheap jap knock off... Keep in mind, this is just at idle...
Hop on the bike and head down the road... WOW!! Again... Smooth but crisp power.. The roll on and mid-range is actually kinda mind blowing, and instantly puts a smile on your face... Now for the sound... Mid-range throttle and roll on acceleration sounds awesome, mean, fat, and with an attitude, definitely another grin factor...
Definitely happy and excited I did it... But want to try and get the sound at idle better, so any suggestion is appreciated, whether its cutting the baffles a tad more or getting the BigCity Thunder inserts...
I also want to thank those who have posted and put up How-To's on the various steps for the 585 install, Pushrod adjustment, and maintenance, a huge Thank You to those that took the time to document these steps and procedures, they were life savers and help the process along for those of us who need it... :2thumbs:
