I did like my autoclutch with open primary, it took a while to set it up perfectly but then it worked great. Until I rode a longish day, about 600 miles. In the eve the clutch did not disengage no matter what I did. I took it a part found nothing weird, adjusted it a bit and all is fine? Nah, in low rpm it worked, above say 2500 clutch didn't want to let go. Clutch lever felt like something is bending rather than moving when pulled in higher rpm.
Took the outer support of belt drive away to see what the hell is happening, is throw-out bearing even trying to move when pulling the lever while engine running around 2500 rpm. Yes it was, but the hole bloody assembly was flexing! Bearing moved, but outer side (perimeter?) of assembly didn', thus clutch did not disengage untill rpm dropped around 1000. That was new!
I wonder did the aluminum assembly somehow lose its rigidity for getting too hot on long ride? Can that happend?
Anyway, I'm going back to normal clutch once I get all the parts from Baker.
Autoclutch was an interesting experiment and I still like the idea and how it worked as long as it worked right, I suppose it works better with wet clutch.

Sorry to hear! Is it still under warranty?
The EFM Auto Clutch has a lifetime warranty. I have one in my 2006 Mastiff, I have mixed feeling with this set up. I had a hard time getting use to it and then it would lock up due to excessive clutch dust on the ball bearing of the centrifugal pressure plate. I worked with Garry at EFM via email and I finally got it to work good last year. Well I took the Bike out Last Thursday to have it inspected and on the way back 5 miles or so it locked up and would not release. So Needless to day I am going back to stock. They work good in wet primaries but suck on open primaries, as I have found out. Didn't mean to hijack you thread, Just wanted to concur with what you have experienced.

oddly enough I didn't have problem with dust! i did make those ramps shine like a mirror and never put any oil or crease there. Lifetime warranty does not ease your mind if you lose trust on part and plan to use bike on longer trips.... I know most users with open primary say they need to open and clean it like every 800-1000 miles. That just doesn't work on road trip, on bar hopping who cares.

I would think that your open primary would keep your clutch cool when riding, but I could see how it might heat up in traffic.

you know you going to have second thoughts.....first time you get in traffic. :bang:

Or you could just ride it in the rain for a few hours and let it clean itself.
Come on, where's your sense of adventure?

Barry! Sense of adventure is still strong! Trying to quess on every traffic light wether I have clutch or not is getting old though!
I really don't know why the back of the assembly started flexing, maybe I should X-ray it to see if there is a small crack or something!
Anyway since it's flexing, it's crap, no use for Chopper either. And it may even make sense to have a similar clutch on every bike...
