turns over but wont start...

i have a a k9 with a 117
has fuel to carb-s&s shorty,
has spark to plugs, but weak-orange spark.
tested coil 18 ohm between plug posts, 3.4 between each side/12v post.
battery 12.8v
was running last week, tried to start this week, just turns over, no fire...
tried disconnecting 12v at coil and running jumper from battery...same/same
need help please

Is it getting fuel? Take the air cleaner off and twist the throttle and make sure fuel is spraying in carb.

I have the same starting problem as stated above. However, I have a 05, no EFI. I removed the air cleaner to check to see if gas would squirt, but nothing. Any advice?

Are you sure you got 18 ohms between those terminals and not 18"K" ohms?

I called BDM Tampa just now. He said the jets are clogged from sitting 3 weeks. Sounds odd to me but ill clean them. Side note, i dont have a fuel pump. WOOHOO! One less thing to break.

If this really was the problem, if I was you, I would clean the entire Carb real good and then install a fuel filter (Pingle) on the fuel line... also, check your petcock mesh for crap in there... your tank linen might be pealing.

i tested evrything, all tested good....
put new plugs in...same problem...
got frustrated:bang::bang::bang:...hit the 'run' button a bunch of times...like 20...
hit the starter switch..started...let it run a good half hour to warm up...in Minnesota-still snow on the ground...
Hit 'run/kill' switch on handle bars...nothing-kept running...
hit it a few more times...engine finally shut down...
wouldn't start until i hit the run button a few times...
problem solved....run button shorting out...

I found the steps to R&R the tank. Im going to clean the tank and carb, and while I have the tank off Im going to bypass the Run/Off button.

I was just wondering why you would try to by pass the switch when maybe there is just something wrong inside the switch or a bad connection or broken wire? My bike is older than yours and old school wired. I am not all that familiar with the ehc on you're bike so maybe you are going the right route. Good luck. Hope you get it running right.

My Start button died a couple years ago, so i bought a slam button from Curtis. I always forget to press the Run button. I ran into a small problem with the directions given me.
Anyway, i cleaned the carb, all jets and the tank. I found the problem was a bunch of white powdery gunk in the diaphragm at the bottom of the bowl. Extra cleaned everything inside the carb and she fired right up.
