Down Shifting

Background ... I replaced the o-rings in my primary because Tranny oil was leaking into the primary. After several adjustments I thought i stopped all leaks around the inner and outer primary. Come to find out while the bike was sitting the last 45 days or so because of winter here in Texas the primary was empty. I did not realize this until after taking off from the house and quickly realizing something was wrong i went back home. GUessing I put about 3 miles on the bike with a dry primary.

After I filled the primary, Now it is having trouble down shifting and occasionally up shifting, but mostly down shifting. It will seem to shift ok at start up, but it does not last long. Could this be because the clutch plates are dry?

Possible clutch plates stuck together. If it wasn't for running it without oil it would sound like the heim joints on the shifter linkage. Just my thoughts.

Ya, your clutch plates are stuck. Try power shifting a few times and see if that loses them up. If not you will have to take them out and get them good and wet...

I think you guys are right, I have taken it for a few short trips, real short, like 1/4 mile to try and shift through gears. It is getting better

Double check you chain adjustment also. A loose chain will keep it from shifting right.

The tranny is a basically a stand alone unit, if you replaced the O-rings on the inner and outter primary case, I would think that had nothing to do with the tranny leaking into your primary, sounds like the tranny seals are bad if that oil is in the primary.

once I took out the inner primary and replaced the O-rings I have no more issues with Tranny fluid in the primary. And the Tranny is full and crystal clear
