My version of "wetsumping "
The checkball in the return line to the oilbag leaks.
Not good several ways to fix (search/google it
resulting in the crankcase being flooded with oil.
now the pistons pressurize the oil, and it blows out of the vent line.
slow cranking , and a mess.

MY crankcase was full of oil , I pulled the plugs and spun the starter.
(only do it for about ten seconds then let starter cool for a couple of minutes)
It took several short spins to clear the oil. (keep your battery charged)
I have a slam button , so the ignition was off.
if you don't have a slam , ground the plug wires. ungrounded can cause ignition problems.
there are several ways to clear/clean/repair the checkball valve .
I used a wooden dowel to lightly seat the ball after I removed the spring, and
cleaned the ball, and seat.

sorry I haven't posted sooner, just lost girlfriend( best friend) to cancer. Been getting my thoughts together since. Anyway the dogs I was looking at have been used and abused and the dealers would not budge on price. Could not finance bikes older than 2005. So bought an Electra glide with all the goodies on it . pick it up Saturday, and of course there's snow on the ground. Guess I'll just have to sit in the garage with the huge industrial fan blowing and make like I'm in the wind till we get some better weather . thanks again for all the input .

I have a 1998 Vintage Classic...the only electrical problem I had was the ground wire at the ignition module had a tendency to break loose. I just ran a wire up through the frame to the switch...then I had to replace the module last year...so 15 + years, not so bad...

I had the same problem with banks when I bought my 02 a couple years, but what the bank wouldn't finance the Credit Union was more than happy to loan money on.
