:hi: I have yet to take my Dog in to do the recall on the VR. I would perfer to get a new VR (2006 Mastiff) rather than do the inline fuse deal. Can I get a new VR for a newer model say a 2008 Mastiff and will it work. If I can where can I get one. I hate to drive 235 miles one way just to do an inline fuse patch for something that should be replace to begain with. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I was told by Bd you can buy a new one the is good without the fuse. I would change out the c.b. to a fuse to be safe the c.b. must be too slow. I am not into the being stranded thing so I will have a "good" vr on order soon

I checked my 06 Mastiff and just gave the dealer the information to have it checked off as done. Depends on your BDM dealer. That's alot of miles for something that might not have to be R&R. GAS or someone else might have a How-to-Thread.

I've changed a VR myself - its easy to do - the BDM VR's are grounded by being in contact with the frame - there is a short wire with a plug on it which just plugs into the same place as the one you got now. There is another wire which you will have to run up to the battery tray - it doesn't connect direct to the battery but just follow your old - also run it along the same line and put some cable ties on it - its a 20 min job

Thanks everyone, I will call Nelson Tomorrow and get one. Sure saves me time and Gas Money not having to drive 235 miles one way just for the VR recall. I did the Strut Bolt recall myself, I used Grade 8 Chrome bolts someone else suggested and posted a linky. Even got all the Fender to Strut bolts replaced with Grade 8 chrome bolts.

Again Thanks to all

Shit can that breaker that is obviously what caused the vr's to short out, bad connection in the breaker caused overheating (my opinion)!! Put the inline fuse in with the new vr!!

Little-Boo,

Notice that you have a 2006 model, may you have already checked and I missed it here, but have you made sure that you even have a VR that is under recall. Does your VR have a year code of 04 or 05?

If you do put a new VR on (which is not a bad idea if you have the questionable VR), I would still go with a fast blow fuse to be on uber safe side!!!

Fiber, I have checked and my VR and it is an 05. I woud like to go with the fast blow fuse and the new VR as suggested by some of you. Can you or someone tell me which lead I should install the fast blow fuse on and what amp should I use.

Thanks

Carlos
