Clutch effort

I have 2008 Mutt which i ride every day. I now have artritis in my left fingers which is making pulling the clutch lever a bit of a struggle and a bit painful.. I know that Harley makes an "easy pull clutch lever" Is there anything like that for my BD.

:flag:Baker makes a easy pull ball and ramp for our bikes. Your bike may or may not have one on it. I am sure someone will chime in and let you know!!!:2thumbs:

The removal of a few clutch springs and there are maybe 2 patterns you can get away with. Think of a box or 4 corners and if you have 8 in a circle. So first pattern for finger feel is to run a triangle pattern and that means to remove 3 so there is a triangle pattern of missing springs.

If that's still crankey on the yankey, then try a 4 pattern spring removal and that pattern is a square/box looking corners of empty spring slots. Just think even pressure on the lighter pull pattern.

Upside: Less pull on the joints.
Downside: Possible spinning clutch on hard acceleration.
Upside: You don't have to hunt for some leverage device.
Downside: You didn't stimulate the economy but pulled out a freebee.

And don't take offense to this but see the cashier on your way out.

I have EFM clutch assem. I think the owner name is gary, It has been awhile. It took a little time to get set up right, but I love it, you can shift with on clutch, or use clutch but there is almost no effort. I have open primiary, but he can make for almost anything.check out his website EFM clutch. I am pretty sure he gives a $50.00 discount to vets. If you are one. I did a how to on this site for install of EFM but it is for open primiary. If you want to no more, you call me. 717 382 9983 bruce, hope this helps

I have put the baker ball and ramp into a couple of Big Dogs. Like Curtis said, make sure you lube your clutch cable good also. I think the easy pull ball and ramp is around $40 bucks.

Stock 05 and up BDM doesn't have springs it has a diaphragm clutch spring..

i have checked with several manufactures and none of them can tell me if it will fit the BIG DOG , matter of fact they only can tell me that they fit Harleys. I do remember that BD did offer something when they were still around.Any suggestions of phone and part numbers.

i been calling all the suppliers including baker with no luck. baker tech told me that they only sell an easy pull clutch plate set up and that BD had already changed to that in 2008 ??? If anyone has done this maybe u can send me a contact and a part number

I have the EFM clutch on an open primary and was about to take it off, but made a few adjustments as per Garry at EFM and I am a happy camper with the set up.

If you have a stock system I can tell you that the EFM will work even better than on the open Primary. That is my opinion, my neighbor has a close primary and has the EFM and he had not had one problem from day one. I did at first it would lock up because the clutch dust would not vent or so I thought. I was told by Gary to clean all the parts with Brake Cleaner and no oil on the balls :lol: (balls on the centrifugal pressure plat) that was the trick in solving my problems with sticky balls :lol:. Now it works great.

Give him a call nice Guy, life time warranty on all parts and also I have not bust any clutch cables since I put this system on.
