07 K9 no power up

Howdy friends, I have a problem. When I turn on Ignition switch I have no power. Happened yesterday, cleaned all connections on battery, powered up, rode 50 miles or so. Went out this am, same problem, no power. Cleaned all connections again, still no power. New battery (6 mos), on tender always. Switch maybe? How can I check to make sure I have power to switch. Thanks for any help. 2007 K9 13000 miles

Where is the fuse in all this? Is this the style under the oil bag/batter case someplace?
Take an ohm meter and read the battery. 12v is not like 12.8v. Digitally read off the number. 12.1v is junk. 12.8v is where that 6mo old battery should be.
 
Hopefully you "Don't" have power to the switch.
The switch is just a ground signal to the EHC.
Unless of course you have changed from the original EHC.
 
All original, tried again this afternoon, everything powered up ok, wtf? Should I go ahead and replace switch? Curtis do you have switches? 13.8 v on battery
 
Thanks for the flow chart Mike, that wil be very helpful in the future. Should I find an oem switch or what type switch should I use?

Well actually, you should be able to measure voltage between the orange wire to the key switch and ground. Not sure if it is 12V or 5V.

Yes, but the key switch is grounding voltage.
It may be low voltage (and extremely low current), but as long as everything is hooked up properly, there should still be a measurable voltage to one side of the key switch when it is off.

As a simplified example think of it like this;

A switch is usually located between the positive side of a battery and the load, so the power route is
battery positive-->--switch-->--load-->--battery negative.

A ground signal circuit just moves the switch to the other side of the load, so the power route is
battery positive-->--load-->--switch-->--battery negative.

In this case the load is a relay (or maybe a logic circuit) inside the EHC.

Dont guess, go through a proper check to verify.

In this case its easy. Just short between the ignition switch terminals...if it powers up consistently, than it is the switch, if not move on.

Following flow chart is a very good idea. Keep in mind you may have a loose wire/crimp somewhere in the loop causing an intermittent connection. Just my 2 bits.
