New Battery Question

I'm in need of a new battery, I was set on getting a braille b2015 but after doing some research I found this power source lightning start battery. It has 500 cca and 20 amp hr- braille has 283 cca and 10 amp hr. Braille is $199 and this other one is $98. Anyone used the power source one? Would it be worth trying for half price and more cca? I know it'll fit because it replaces harley 65989-97C which is what I have currently. Any ideas would be great, Thanks!

I would second Dan's recommendation on the Braille. Have had mine a little over three years and is still going strong. Your stats you stated on the Braille are not correct. This is what I show. •425 Cold Cranking Amps •574 Cranking Amps •1067 (PCA) Pulse Cranking Amps and 21 amp hr. I believe the tag on mine stated 462 CC amps when it was tested at the factory. I don't know anything about the Lightning Start Battery it may be a great battery. If you decide on a Braille check with Auto Anything they used to give a discount to forum members. Check out the Tomioka battery also have heard good things about them.

I had the Lighting Start, worked good for 2 1/2 years, then starting failing, it was on
a tender at all times when not riding. Now trying a Braille.

The Harley battery I have now is dated back 4 years, not sure when it was put in as I've only had bike a few months but I'd say that was pretty good.

After reading some reviews on the lightning start,it appears as though the terminals are cheap and not heavy lead like in the picture. Reviews on 3 different sites and people said the same thing so that kinda worries me. Can you verify this x-ray doc?

I just bought a lightning start battery for the road Star. The terminals are cheap but it starts the bike fine so I'm soon to find out if it's a good battery. I buy a new battery every year because when they decide to go they go and I hate being stuck on the side of the road. The $98 price is good insurance for a years worth of non worry. I took off the fuel pump on the RS and went direct. I forgot to turn on the gas petcock and tried to start it for an hour. The lightning start battery still kept going so so far so good.

I purchased one of these several months ago and it worked great for a couple of months until it wouldn't hold a charge. BUT, since it has a 1 year warranty, the vendor replaced it at no charge. No problems since and it cranks the dog quickly.:whoop: I would definitely buy another.

The terminals look to be the same as all the other batteries I have had, not any cheaper.
I got the bat 3 years ago, so they could have changed, but I never had any problems
with them, no problems until it started to fail.

Went ahead and bought the Power Source battery. Got it today and the date on bottom is 11/2013. Its already a year old, is this a problem? I called the company I bought it from and they said its normal they are that old when sold and I can understand a few months but a year? What do you think?

As long as the warranty starts when you bought it, no problem.
I got a Power Source battery back in the spring from a local store, so far its good.

I've used several of the HD batteries 310 CCA I believe they go the distance vey good choice.

I know deka makes them but i talked to a worker at the factory who said the HD batteries are made separate and with higher quality standards either way they are durable in both my 05 and 2011 Big Dogs
