Decompression Question

I would not go manual. Your bike is already wired for electric ones, Id use put in what it had. It beats pushing them in manually on a hot motor.

Also, I just installed them on my 03 this summer. I did not need to take the rocker covers off. Just remove the one bad one and install the new one! I did however remove the gas tank so I could get an extension and torque wrench in there and properly torque them.

If your bike already has the electric releases then the holes are already drilled. The vid was for a Harley that never had releases.

On an S&S aren't the compression releases in the center of the heads. As close as the tank is to the top of the rocker boxes on my bike it would be impossible to reach down in there to push manual releases in. And that was a twin cam head in the video. Different than our heads. My 107 starts just fine with a good starter and battery and there are two less parts to fail.

Ok I got the rear valve installed. Started bike and it isn't bouncing like the old one. I have a question though. When I turn ignition on, press off, then run...I don't hear any clicks and I even looked at the valve with the rubber off and it doesn't move that I can see. Is it supposed to click and stay down when the run button is hit?

My -03 Chopper (107) has no valves, engine cranks as well as my -08 K9 (117) with valves. Figure that.

Well, when I push start and keep my finger on the valve, I can clearly feel the valve going down.

Ok well I put my finger on the valves and tapped the start button and front moved down and rear didn't, maybe my splice came loose as I was sealing up the wires. Ill take it apart and just twist wires together to test real quick.

Ok, one of the wires came loose out of the crimp. I guess I gotta find some smaller styler connectors. Twisted wires together just to try and it works. Also got to get the pain in the ass rubber cover on.

I think it is my battery, its a harley battery that is 4 years old. If It is fresh off the maintainer it starts good but maybe it isn't holding a charge for long. I'm gonna save up for a braille battery and Have my starter re done by wsw and I think that combo along with the new compression valve will make starting no problem....hopefully

It should help. I added comp releases to my 03 and added a new braille too. The combo helped a lot. Still doesnt turn over like a car, but much better with mods. Good luck!
