Where do I order parts from?

Member since 07 with an 05 chopper. have not been on here in a while and I believe I used to order parts from BDM Performance? but cant find them anymore, then found www.bdm.com but that not working either.
time to rewire my chopper (*$%^) and need to know where to order parts. Electrical retro fit.

Curtis does sell good kits to fix your woes!! I had brake lights out on mine (bad EHC) and he fixed me right up!

Its a personal choice which way to go (rewire vs new module kits).

For a total rewire, this is a new harness available. I just bought this for my winter project! I will do a thread on the install.

Yes but to some its worth it to rid themselves of what they feel is a problem.

You can measure the Harley controls and have that amount cut from your BD bars and a 1" insert put in. A local machine shop quoted me $60 but I bought chubby ones for my bike.

I'm getting ready to change my HD bars on my new KMW bike back to BD controls. Just look better in MY opinion. Already put the BD mirrors back on it that I liked so much. Now to do the fender mods like I did on my last bike, tank is big enough so don't have to stretch it out. Just personalizing it like we all do.

Curtis is 100% correct!!!! This NAMZ kit will NOT work with the BDM bars and controls!! Buck for buck, its best to use the WSW kit and rid the issues without all the rewire and bar replacement, and control issues, etc, etc, etc!! Cant stress that enough!

BUT - my bike is an 03, so it has the smaller 1" bars and the Harley controls from the factory. This helped me in deciding on the rewire without all the cost of swapping controls and bars as well.

But I do want to emphasize - the WSW kit made specifically for the 03 also is also top notch and will fix your 03 EHC issues! Its EZ install and a quality product - hands down the best option for an 03 ECH fix!!

The ONLY reason I am rewiring is I cant leave the wrenches in the tool box. I am mechanical minded by trade and I just want to do it. I'm old school simple minded.....lol. I may regret it! I'm no wiring guru but I want to give it a shot. Hard to explain!

I’m not sure it won’t work with the 5V hand controls. It looks like this company bought out Badlands and now use the Badlands module in their wiring kits.
If I could see a wiring diagram or schematic for this kit I would be able to tell.

Well that's the problem. When I received the kit, there was no wiring diagram or schematic with it. I called Namz. They told me they did not have one yet, and the kit was made for people who are very familiar with Harley wiring. They told me to ask questions and with my questions it will aide them in making a basic schematic to add to the kit in the future. The individual bundles are labeled (as bundles, not individual wires) as to where they go.

I also bought the Namz wiring book and read the whole thing. Great book. I think the info in the book, and the bundle wiring tags will allow me to figure out what is what. I'm thinking it's really not that hard, and follows standard Harley diagram.

I have not had time yet, but I have the kit laid out on the workbench. I will study it along with the book, and ask Namz a few questions, and tag every wire. Then I can verify that in an email to Namz before I start.

But I think my 03 controls are 12v (Harley controls) so I should be good regardless. I will verify that once I get them apart. Its the 04 and up controls that wont work. Hoping to ride a few more weeks before I tear into it.

So the answer to the question of will it work with the 5v controls is;

NO, not like it comes.:down:

It looks like it would work for the blinkers (or signals), but the rest of the stuff on the bar controls like the headlight and the start button do not go through this module. So that is why I say this one will not work.

But it could be made to work. You just have to have the 5v controls activate relays that draw less than 1¼ Watts at 12 volts, and power everything with those relays. If I remember correctly the 5v hand control circuit boards are rated for 250 mA at 5V (=1¼ Watts) so at 12v that is only 104 mA (but still only 1¼ Watt)

You either have to stay with BD and modules/computers or go old school. There is no in between. I bought a Badlands unit for my bike because I wanted the turn signals to work with old school wiring. If it quits I can still ride. The unit is set up for 12v functions like it's been for 60 years now.
