Paint touch up? $$$$

I have the ins company coming adjuster coming Friday and was wondering if anyone has an idea of what it would cost to fix the scratches the right way? There is a scratch in the rear fender as you can see by the arrow and a hairline in the tank but it didn't show up in the pictures.

I wish I knew how to put the full size picture in the message body like a lot of you people do

with it being in the solid color on the fender, seems like that would been relatively simple, but with the crack on the tank, that means the filler (which is on every tank) will have to probably have to come off completely and re-worked. this would mean the tank would have to be completely repainted. make sure you don't have any scratches on the front fender or on the side covers, DON'T OVERLOOK ANYTHING!!!

Its not a crack in the tank its a hairline scratch its not as bad as the one in the fender, I been looking the bike over and over and I will wash it tomorrow and see if anything else shows up, I would hate to find damage after the fact.

I hope you're not turning that into insurance because if you are your rates will go up for 5 years and it will cost you twice the amount in the end.

I had a new bung cut out and welded in my tank, all he painted was the top of the tank down to the graphics on the side of the tank, then cleared the whole tank. A good painter will be able to fix you up, it wasn't a 100 or 2 fix though.

Depends you want it done "right" or just fixed ? And yes there is a difference. People ask me all the time "just touch it up and make it look better " sure and when it ages and begins to peel or look like chit cause you power washed it or something like that.... Blame the painter...
If it's just in the remove the parts sand, paint, reclear done. That's how I'd do it. Probably not worth having insurance for cost est.$200ish otd

I am turning it into the insurance . I have much more damage than that scratch , I was in an accident and had to lay it down , although not purposely that's just what happened.

I'm not agaisn't going the insurance route - Just make sure you get a reasonable estimate you might have to take it to a good custom shop. Sometimes these insurance guys don't know how much the BDM parts cost over Harley.

Just curious who is the insurance co?

I would look at wetsanding and buffing the scratch in the tank and on the fender to see what it looks like before you send it off to get painted.

I sent some pictures to a local painter and he described in detail what he would do to do it right and estimated the cost of fixing the paint at 1500-2000 .

I also got prices from Derek and Donna of Big Dog Parts king for all the parts I will need. They were a lot of help as usual.
