Stock Peg Rubber Removal

Anyone know any way to remove the rubber inserts on stock pegs without damaging them? It'd like to have mine chromed, and I was told it cannot be done with the rubber inserts installed without damaging them.

An impossible task. The rubber is pushed thru small holes during the manufacturing process. You can strip all the rubber off but you will be left with just a holey peg! I put rivets in mine and powder coated them.
