Congratulations! You will leave all other bikes behind. My Springer has already collected a ton of dust and I only have my BD a month.

Same as any other bikes, there is where Preventive Maintenance is important.

Start reading through the Sub-Forums and it will save you lots of questions.

you can start by clicking on the link at the bottom of my signature block

Transmission main input shaft on 2005 - 2007 bigdogs, not just K-9s have had issues! I'm working on an 06 K-9 now in which the main shaft broke. Andrew just rebuilt it for me... :D

Thanks Andrew :2thumbs:

My 06 had the countershaft move in the transmission. Stuck in 3rd gear and of course 05 and 06 had TP Rocker Boxes.

Congrats on your new bike..

As a fellow (and now former) sportbike rider since 1985 I can give you MY impressions as I have a 2006 K9..

The two biggest things on the performance end are the torque and the brakes..

1) don't ride/rev it like a inline 4, short shift the bike you massive amounts of torque down low..
2) you don't have sportbike brakes so don't run the bike into a corner hot or follow anyone in traffic to close....these things don't stop like sportbikes, not even close..

Coming off a ZX14 myself those are the two biggest things that stood out to me..

Be prepared for lots of stares and questions people really dig these things..

Enjoy it and ride safe.. :flag:
