Documenting the tear down rebuild

As you all read cracked my swing arm and rear fender! This prompted me to do a complete tear down and rebuild way earlier than I wanted to. I am going to document this from start to finish. Just like la dog ! So I will 1 focus a lot of attention on getting my pit bull finished to ride while the bbc sled is down. Mods I am thinking about doing are!
1. Transmission rebuild Jon or Andrew May get some calls.
2. Engine bored and want to remove the ca restrictions.
3. Frame re powder coated pending any more cracks
4. Engine polished and diamond cut
5. New rear fender may put the Athena rear fender on with new paint
That's really all for now! I am leaving on another "trip" Sunday and will be out of the country for awhile! Time to go to work !!!!

Tonight I started the process and I assure u all no good wings in my garage

1 removed the oil tank
2. Loosened up the primary! I am having a hell of a time removing the clutch basket. This was easy on the Pitt.
Tomorrow I will remove the primary and hopefully the trans! I leave on Sunday for a month so I will post day 3 and be out for a bit

Another pic ! May need some help removing the clutch baskets. Do I need to remove the 1 15/16 nut on the right side to pull the basket ?

Btw my neighbor who is a foreigner and does no work on anything was giving me the third degree for always working on the bikes ??? I will vent and say no more but happy 4th all

I wouldn't think so! You should be able to pull it off...

I thought so but it is on there tight..... I removed the entire primary on the pibull and it was easy.. not sure why but I decided to shut it down today and try aging tomorrow.. this sucks that I am doing this too early once the pit bull is running it will be a good rebuild... Thanks brew

I like to stay organized, I used egg crates and label the parts and pieces as I go!

The clutch basket will not budge. It has about approximately a 1/4" of movement but seems to get hung up? I looked and nothing that I can see is stopping it. It appears to hang up on the splines from the transmission shaft ?

I am thinking of taking my heat gun to it to see if there may be some loctite holding it on.

I was thinking the same thing and it does appear this May be the case.

So has anyone ever had this happen? I am looking at using a crowbar and mallet with some rags to try and knock it off the splines. Just need to be careful not to damage the trans or the primary back plate.

Bud make a little plate with 2 holes that go across the main shaft and a couple pieces of threaded rod to go into the clutch basket, wind on some nuts and jack it off. Use your main shaft nut to protect the thread.
