Feeling a little unloved

Now don't get me wrong here guys as i have no problem with Harley's or Harley riders, but here in England i seem to be getting the impression that they really don't like me and my Big Dog. They don't seem to want to talk to me and they seem to look at me and my bike like we are a piece of dog shit they have just trodden in. Now whilst i really couldn't give a shit and will quite happily give them the finger whilst i thunder past them at 100mph, i was just wondering if this was a global issue or is it just confined to the UK? I am feeling a little unloved and alone over here and any help and advice to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

JR is correct. Some will gawk at your bike and others will walk by looking out the corner of their eye wishin they had something different. There are some different nice Harleys outt there also if you want to spend 35 or 45 grand. Just ride by with a big ole smile.

Jr and Cliff have it nailed. Their just jealous, we run into the same thing here. When your ridding the best and you know it, take each complement with a simple thank you, and leave the rest alone.

World-wide issue in most places. They're the ones with the problem, not you

It used to be if you wanted to stand out in the crowd you rode an HD. Now HD's ARE the crowd. Some folks take the attitude " if it ain't a Harley, it ain't shit". Well that's true. I didn't want shit so I got a Dog. LOL. I had the HD's, just enjoy what ya ride n fuck the rest. Jmo.

I never understood that kind of attitude. Ride what you love and to Hell with anybody that doesn't like it.

Everybody has an opinion...
I have started a few riding groups, seen 'em come and go... (all bikes wlecome: Big Bear Chopper, Iron Horse, Big Dog, Harley, Special Construction and more...) I can tell you there will always be some sort of conflict; it is unavoidable...

... and perhaps I am reading in between the lines here...

The Issue:

1) Do you want to be "luved"/accepted/ride/hang/be friends with them?

a) Do you think the problem is your bike is a Big Dog?

b) Do you think the problem is all of "them"?

c) Do you think the problem could be a misperception of "you"? (e.g. trying to Lead, demand Respect, want others to follow...?)

Perhaps look at what you have control over and can change and put the best version out there of each.

Better to win over one at a time; then go for the group if that is what you want...

Please disregard if this is just one of those rant & rave threads and things are just fine as is... This is not an attack on anyone personaly or anyone else or group or bike manufacturer or action taken or not taken -- just an opinion.

PS:
I have not felt the "unloved" part here in SoCal;
never rode in the UK.

Have you tried hanging out with Triumph Riders? I just think it is a Pack thing. I would just go your own way and be different. Some of them are just too scared to say they like your ride.

I'm with most people here in that if you can find someone to ride with, ride. Don't care what it is if it has an internal combustion engine, pipes and two wheels.

Now this is not true of all the Harley folks because I've ridden with some fantastic Harley riders who are as nice/accepting as can behave and have complimented my Dog, but a lot of Harley riders follow the cult mentality wherein they feel if you're NOT on a Harley, you are either un-American or not part of the fraternity. Funny because those bikes have almost as many foreign parts as the foreign bikes.

I've never been part of the whole cult mentality thing as I like to think for myself, hence the reason most of us ride these beasts. We are the GDI's of motorcycling.

When I really want to piss off the HD boys I just tell them that the last true HD was made in 1968.
