Been lurking on this site for a while in preparation for my Big Dog purchase. Originally looking for a chopper but pulled the trigger on a K9. Was partial to black but the more I look at the metallic black cherry the more I like it. In the sunlight it looks metallic maroon and in the dark it almost looks black. This bike gets more looks and compliments than any other of my previous bikes combined!! When its parked it’s like a celebrity, everyone wants a picture with it (yelled at few morons trying to sit on my bike too). Will be doing my own maintenance this week (tranny, primary and engine oil, plugs clutch and throttle adjustments and cable lube. Then polish, wax the paint then polish the billet with Adam’s.

A few quick questions

1. If the primary cover and inspection gasket are fine to reuse what silicone sealant is everybody using ?
2. Honestly, the ride is a little stiffer that I care for. I’m a lower/middle weight build and ride solo. Will a fork with lighter oil and different shocks soften things up a little ?

Welcome from Coastal SC. No need to open the primary - just the inspection. save ya a little time. new gasket for that is cheap but any type of clear silicone sealant that can take the heat would be fine

i use silicone on the inspection gasket only, not on the primary O-ring. nice color :2thumbs::cheers:

if you need shop assistance, you are very close to "Biker's Dream". give them a shout.

X2 but it's a square ring on the outer to inner primary Pops.

DUUUHHH!!!!! i used silicone the first couple times and all it did was make a big fuckin' mess with leaks. quit using the silicone and no mess and doesn't leak. just make sure the o-ring stays in the groove nice and flat. :2thumbs:

Sounds like I should be fine without sealant as long as the O ring is seated well. Easier for me then !

Maybe. Crawl under and see if you already have adjustable shocks on it first. If you don’t then you can always buy some. Do a search, a bunch of people here have them and there are several different discussions on how to make your scoot ride better.
