I installed a Twister on my bike and if you gas it hard it starts popping at about 2500 rpm. if you just slowly roll on it everything is fine. What jets are you guys running in your spike air filtered bikes?

I've got a 31/78 but you have to take into consideration alt. and pipes as well, are you running baffles etc. etc. more info would be better but you can also find plenty of info by doing a search.

no baffles on martin bros trendkills. I tried 31,32,33 and 76,78,80,82 in all the combos. The 33 is the biggest I have in my kit. It seems to fall at the transition circuit.

Alot of people(me included) hate the spikes. Not enough air. I cut mine off, slid on a K&N. Works much better.

Elevation in my area is about 137 feet almost none. I use the XXX Carb with the 31 and 74 works good for me. :D

ANYONE ELSE HAVE ANY INFO???
What jets do you have in it now? Seems you are putting very large jets in it when you should be using smaller with that restrictive air cleaner cover.

I run a 29.5/74 combo with an exposed cone filter.

Plus your pipes aren't doing you any good either without some kiind of baffles.
Your motor is nothing more than an air pump and if you are running a 33/80 combo then you are just flooding it out.
Go get it dyno'd and have them put in the air/fuel analyzer.

Stock motor, 32/78, bowl vent plug removed, mean mothers with baffles, spike mounted Vertical and I'm at sea level.

Runs great and plugs are perfect!

Had the D&M - moved back to stock....

Am in NJ - V&H 2-1 pipes, re-jetted to 32 and 80 last Friday and am as happy as ever :) :) ...will check the plugs in a few (may be a touch rich). Just an occasional pop on de-acceleration if any. Just couldn't get it right with the D&M. then again it could be me...

I would try the same combo with the D&M 32-80 make that your base line and then work up or down depending on the outcome.

I have the D&M spike with V&H Big radius with baffles.
Sorry but I can't remember my jets but I always have
decibel popping while decelerating. Sometimes when
I start the bike up it makes a loud bang like a 357 magnum.
Any ideas?

Start by pulling jets and check the sizes. Know all your info first. Have you adjusted the A/F mixture?

I think it is fixed. I went back to some of my old hot rod drag stuff. The s&s has a allen screw to the left side of the throat. pull it out. The carb seems to be vapor locking with the velocity stack. This is an extra bowl vent. It rides strong now.

Yup, as is stated by S&S in their Manual... get rid of that Bowl Vent Plug.

32/78 and 60 Air Bleed, @ Sea Level. Spike mounted vertical :2thumbs:

Stock 107. 32/78. .40 air bleed. MLB twisted pipes no baffles, bowl vent removed, D&M twisted spike mounted forward. I found if I run with the rain sock on, its great. Pull the sock and I get a slight miss at around 60-65.

some people have great success with spikes and others for what ever reason cant make them work. Its like batteries, some people are constantly killing them and others rarely have to change them. I run a xxx mini taz and like Harry, run the rain sock all the time.
