Took the HD Ultra classic. 1st outing since the wife's Hysterectomy 4 weeks ago. Left Shreveport and went to Lewisville Ark and had Lunch. Left there and road to Jefferson Tx and relaxed and rested at Annie Skinners. Took Hwy 2 back to Hwy1 in oil city. Then headed south to Shreveport. Got 7 miles from home and my throttle cable snapped! I managed to idle down to a business parking lot and called a friend to come pick me and my wife up. Then came and got the trailer and truck. Then went back and got the bike. Great day but a sucky finish!

It happens to the best of us. Wish I could be riding this week, I'm in a rental car cruising down the Pacific coast, it would be a lot better on the bike.

Agreed, you can never tell when that time will come no matter what you ride. At least it happened close to home...

:2thumbs: You had a better weekend than I did. I think my eyes were sunburned from yard work. But, I'll throw in my opinion in that I believe your EHC has failed....:roll::roll: And, you should sell your Big Dog. Crap, I've got to go to work..:bang:

That was the weirdest feeling! Giving it throttle while letting off the clutch and soon as the clutch was released fully started rolling the throttle and I felt a ping in the throttle resistance vanished! You roll it farwards or back and the bike was just at idol while I roll down the road at 15 mph. No return spring pull, no nothing!

Ok, got the parts coming! 2 new throttle cables, and found out why the ride was for shit, back left rear air shock was blown! Ordered a set of progressive Heavy Duty with 4 settings. Going to put them on the lowest setting. Damn, not bad for a smart ass white boy!

I'm with Nuke on this one. Are you SURE it wasn’t your EHC? Seems like I remember reading that a bad EHC on your scoot will definitely make your wife’s Harley ride bad. You should probably replace it anyway just to make sure.

I got new cables from Curtis 2 months ago just to replace mine for preventative maintenance. They are still in the box.

I know exactly what you mean.... bought shit loads of stuff during last two years and still in the box, but it is all good... some has been used already, and when something broke it was the greatest feeling knowing that I already had it on the shelf at home! :2thumbs:

Got the bike back together yesterday. Wow! I love these new Progressive Manuel shocks! Fuck that factory air ride crap!!!!!! From the feel that shock had been down for a while! Found out also why the cruise control stopped working 2 rides ago and it was a sensor on the throttle cable. But this is an older bike 18 yrs old and these were the original cables. I went ahead and replaced the clutch cable while I was at it. But she's ready to go again! I will say this. This bike has been great on several reasons. I wanted, NO I needed a winter project when I bought it, rebuilding the EVO motor and doing the complete tear down taught me tons of valuable info, with a new bike people are Leary about romping on the bike and cutting up. With this bike it is a rider, I romp and cut up on it not being scared I might hurt it. Shit I know what's in that Vtwin! Between what I have done and Kendall has done. It produced massive HP for a 80" EVO and I like the look! It's not quite as much fun as being on the dog but it's a good close second!
