XXX carb mileage

Hey all, the K9 I just bought has a TAZ XXX CARB ON IT. I'm getting really bad gas mileage compared to my other K9 with stock carb. Like to check with others who have the XXX and see what kind of mileage they're getting. With stock carb I get about 140 mil and with XXX carb I'm getting about 103.

How many gallons are you using to get 140? The mileage on my 107 sucked at about 30 mile per gallon. I had John rebuild my carb and am hoping for better.

I have a XXX with 1 thunderjet. I am getting around 145 - 150 per tank. It depends on driving style also. If I am getting into it a lot and the thunderjet gets to dump a lot of gas, I get less mileage. What is your setup?

Super E or G the G being a larger throat carb I believe

I have the XXX G carb and I get 30 mpg in the city and 35 on the highway.

Thanks for the replies. I get 140 out of 3.9 gallons with my 08 K9. I'm running a G XXX carb. I pulled the spark plugs and they were a little dark so I went ahead and put new ones in going to recheck. I'm thinking of dropping one size on the intermediate jet what do you think.

That's 36 mpg.... I think it is average compared to the majority.

It's the price you pay for big horsepower. My 750 Honda night Hawk gets 49 miles per gallon but it won't smoke the tire in third gear either.

Do you know what jets it has yet? 26mpg sounds thin but if you look at what I get out of my 3.5 gal tank avg 100 miles maybe another 10 till I'm doing a Raywood. That's like 31mpg on a good day. I have run out at 90 miles too (25mpg) but that's usually when I'm running with a couple wankers at Daytona....
How is it running? Are you getting any black smoke when you honk on it?

I have the same carb on my 06 Mastiff with a few engine modes and at between 100 and 110 I am looking for a gas station. After 110 I keep my fingers crossed, but have yet to push the bike or run out of gas. That is why Raywood got a Hernia, pushing too often even with an extended tank that hold like 5.5 gal. :lol: :lol:
